Don’t call it snail mail because apparently USPS mail vans can really take off. While mail carriers aren’t known for racing, one postal worker dared to do a full send during a race with a Ford Mustang.

A USPS mail van raced a Ford Mustang

In Fremont, Ohio, a USPS mail van was pulled over along Route 20, west of Fremont because it was going 105 mph in a 60 mph zone. That’s more than just a standard speeding violation, that’s reckless driving.

The incident was filmed via the body cam of a Sandusky County Deputy’s body camera. After he clocked the mail carrier at 105 mph and pulled her over, he asked if there was a reason why she was going over 100 mph.

The driver, Drew Brown, claimed that he didn’t realize she was going that fast. According to the Sandusky County traffic report, the van didn’t have any plates and seemed to be racing a Ford Mustang

The deputy explained that he saw the Mustang take off before seeing her blow past it. So, technically, the van won the race.

Drew identified herself as a Fremont Post Office employee. She is 28 and waived the case. The stop happened on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at about 1:51 PM.

The case is now closed and Drew has made the first $50 payment on a $240 fine for the traffic violation. She also received a verbal warning for racing. She’s lucky because the police officer could have taken her to jail.

Also, no packages or letters were harmed during the race. The mail van was just a little delayed for the rest of the afternoon.

Naddia Dhalai, a USPS spokesperson, shared that Drew Brown is an employee. The incident is under investigation and as a matter of policy, USPS is unable to comment further on a specific individual personal matter.

It doesn’t sound like she lost her job. Also, I’ve never seen a postal worker go over 20 mph, so I have to admit she provided an impressive yet very unsafe performance. Maybe Drew should get into racing.
