Who knew?

We were all fooled into thinking that sleek, silver structure was just an empty stainless steel box of some sort. It is the perfect marketing tool for Jeep’s new hybrid off-road Wrangler. How many more will be popping up on trails and desert expanses? They definitely take the range anxiety out of the off-roading equation when in the middle of nowhere you can access a recharge. 

Those contemplating purchasing one of the Jeep hybrids can take comfort in knowing anywhere you go-even in the middle of a desert, you need not worry about where to charge. Places like Moab may be dotted with these shiny monoliths throughout its borders someday. A shiny, bleak sort of structure that is ready at your service to ease your mind. What a concept!

With a 400 mile range, you can expect 50 mpg

Jeep’s 4XE comes out this month with a hybrid 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder combined with the hybrid motor. With 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque from a four-banger, the EV motor can take it 25 miles in electric mode. With a 400 mile range, you can expect 50 mpg. 

The monolith ad popped up on Jeep’s Facebook page and brought a smile to all of us at MotorBiscuit. While the reality is that the mysterious monolith disappeared as quickly as it arrived the funny ad will be what comes to mind when the subject of the monolith in the Utah desert comes up. At least for those enthusiasts who have seen it. And kudos to Jeep for taking something from recent pop culture and owning it.
