Dedicated enthusiasts and gearheads have been making electric cars, trucks, SUVs, and motorcycles for years. As such, it’s not often that you find something so ridiculous that it causes you pause. Well, Matt Denton’s giant Monkey Bike motorcycle is one of those weird, wild, and wonderful rides. So much so, that famed MythBusters star Adam Savage stopped in to take a spin on the electric motorcycle.

This 3D-printed electric motorcycle is made of giant Legos– and full-size adults can ride it

The concept behind Legos is one with which most people are familiar. Little, interlocking plastic bricks can come together to create fabulous kits. That, or creative minds can go way, way off script and build their wildest dreams, like city skylines and surprisingly realistic portraits. However, it’ll be a cold day in you-know-where before you see life-sized vehicles made of Legos. Right?

Well, not quite. Matt Denton, famed UK television personality and big-time dreamer decided to build a life-size Monkey Bike electric motorcycle out of giant, 3D-printed Lego-like components. However, it wasn’t as easy as tearing open huge baggies full of pieces and unfolding a large set of instructions. Denton ran into issues with proportions and structure early on. But, after reinforcing components with bolts, shims, and large metal rods like a 35mm tube, the Lego EV bike would support a person.

In a satisfying video, Denton assembled the bike like a tiny cartoon character working with a full-size Lego kit. Moreover, he included polycarbonate suspension gear. In addition to the rigid suspension gear, Denton set springs on both sides, not unlike many popular production bikes. Humorously, he even printed little X-shaped ends to mimic the appearance of Lego axle rods.

Finally, after Denton put the entire bike together, installed the 48-volt bottle-shaped battery, and took it for a ride, he invited Adam Savage, the MythBusters star, to ride the finished product. Oh, and there are no brakes. Check out the full video of Denton putting the bike together and Savage taking a ride below!
