Wait, the Ram Rampage Seriously Just Made Things Interesting
We’ve had our eyes on the Ram Rampage to see how it could disrupt the tiny truck industry. We hope it comes to America, but we might get the midsize Ram Dakota instead. However, a few new clues indicate that The Ram Rampage could be coming after the Ford Maverick with plenty of muscle.
Will the Ram Rampage have Hurricane power?
The latest rumors about the tiny but mighty Ram Rampage suggest that it will have Hurricane power under the hood. Motor1 shared that the last teaser in Brazil indicated that it will have a gasoline engine known as the Hurricane4.
This engine is pretty popular in America. The turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine is in the Jeep Compass, Dodge Hornet, Jeep Wrangler 4xe, Wrangler, Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee 4xe, and Alfa Romeo Stelvio.
It has a few different tunings to provide various amounts of power. With the Wrangler 4xe, it cranks out 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. Plus, this engine can be paired with hybrid powertrains.
It could provide more power than the gas-powered Ford Maverick and leaves room for a hybrid, fuel-efficient truck. This engine is built in Michigan, and the Rampage is being tested in America, so we’re getting our hopes up.
How will the Hurricane4 benefit the Rampage?
The Ram Rampage is being codeveloped by engineers in America and Brazil, and the latest teaser includes Mike Koval, the head of Ram North America.
He’s passionate about bringing a new tiny truck to the American market, and parts from the United States make the process a bit easier.
Plus, the Hurrican4 could make the Rampage the fastest truck ever produced in Brazil, giving it more global attention. It could give the Rampage enough power to generate interest in America as the tiny truck market continues to explode.
Also, this engine already meets the higher emission standards in the United States. It would allow the Rampage to be legal here. Although, it will probably have spicy turbo diesel engines in other countries that make us jealous.
The Ford Maverick Hybrid can’t be paired with AWD, but this engine can be paired with a hybrid powertrain with AWD and 4×4. It could make the Rampage Hybrid more capable than the Maverick Hybrid.
However, we might have to wait a little longer for the official power to be released and the EPA-estimated fuel economy.
What else do we know about the 2024 Rampage?
Most of the details about the 2024 Ram Rampage have been kept under wraps, and it’s expected to debut in South America by the end of the year.
It might not come to America, but Mike Koval introduced a tiny truck to dealerships in March that was met with excitement and praise. It could have been the Rampage or larger Dakota.
The Rampage will share a platform with the Jeep Renegade and Jeep Compass. It could have curricular headlights to match the SUVs or could look like a smaller version of the Ram 1500. Either way, it will have a confident stance.
While the Rampage is expected to be manufactured in South America, it shares parts that are made in America. Adding these parts here in one of the many Jeep and Ram plants might be possible. Plus, the Cherokee plant could be repurposed for the truck.
Something big is coming with the Rampage, and the rumors are too hot to ignore. Stay tuned for the latest Ram truck updates.
