Maybe you’re anxiously awaiting delivery of your Tesla Cybertruck. If, however, you’ve been waiting to see if all the fuss about the Tesla truck is worth it, its delay might have you looking at what else is out there. Luckily for you, there are some great electric trucks worth considering. Let’s see what electric pickup trucks are available sooner, and if you should choose one of them instead of the Cybertruck.

Tesla’s truck has a certain appeal

Tesla’s Cybertruck has the obvious advantage of being a one-of-a kind, totally unique electric truck. It looks like something straight out of science fiction, which is either a huge selling point or a complete drawback, depending on how you feel about the Cybertruck’s spaceship feel. 

How much is the Tesla Cybertruck? It’s starting at $39,900 for the base model, though you could also get the Dual Motor AWD Cybertruck for $49,900, or the Tri Motor AWD Tesla truck for $69,900. Since budget is likely a major part of the car buying process, this is an important piece of information.

When can I expect my Cybertruck?

When you can expect to actually get your Tesla Cybertruck depends on a few factors, such as when you ordered it. All Tesla Cybertrucks are scheduled for delivery in 2022. 

Originally the Tesla Cybertruck was supposed to begin delivery in 2021. According to Business Insider, in January of 2021 however, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that production could be delayed. Turns out he was right. In August of 2021, delivery of the Cybertruck was pushed back until sometime in 2022. When exactly in 2022 remains a mystery, possibly even to Tesla and Elon Musk. Perhaps it will make an appearance in the winter of 2022. 

What electric trucks can I buy sooner?

So what electric trucks are available sooner than the Cybertruck? You have some choices if you’d like to look at other electric truck options.

You could opt for the 2022 Rivian R1T, which will begin deliveries in January 2022. This electric pickup is rumored to have up to 400 miles of range and start at $67,500. 

The 2022 GMC Hummer is a super expensive electric truck that may be the right choice for you if you’re looking for some serious off-road performance. Although the Hummer EV Edition 1, which is slated for Fall 2022 production is currently full, you could go for the Hummer EV3X, which is expected to be available in Fall 2022. 

The 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning will be available in Spring 2022, and there’s a lot of excitement surrounding it. The Ford F-150 Lightning will have 426-hp and up to 300 miles of range. Pricing should start at about $41,669. 

If waiting for the Tesla Cybertruck isn’t your jam, or you aren’t interested in it for other reasons, there are still a lot of electric trucks to choose from. The Rivian R1T, GMC Hummer EV, and Ford F-150 Lightning are all electric pickup trucks that could fill the gap that waiting for the Tesla truck has left.
