You hear about the Subaru Impreza and the Subaru Outback, but what about the Subaru Ascent? It seems to be an unpopular Subaru model, but why is it being ignored? Let’s dive in to check out the Subaru Ascent specs.

Why Does No One Want The Subaru Ascent?

In a world where SUVs with three rows of seating are growing, the Subaru Ascent should be more popular. It can seat up to eight passengers.

You can get started in the base model for about $32k, which isn’t bad.

It’s competitively priced against options like the Chevy Traverse and Dodge Journey that begin around the same price.

For an SUV, the Subaru Ascent has a fair fuel economy as well. It gets up to 21 mpg in the city and up to 27 mpg on the highway.

Subaru Ascent Performance

The Subaru Ascent, the largest Subaru ever, doesn’t have that much power. It has a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with an output of 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque.

Most three-row SUV options have a V6 engine available, but despite only offering a four-cylinder option, the Ascent can still tow between 2,000 to 5,000 lb.

Plus, the Subaru Ascent has more pep than expected. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in only 6.9 seconds.

Also, the Subaru Ascent comes with standard all-wheel-drive, meaning you don’t have to pay more to add that capability. Its competitors being with standard front-wheel drive.

For off-roading or driving in slippery conditions, the Subaru Ascent offers X-MODE to automatically adjust the torque and brake pressure of each wheel to keep you going safely.

Hill descent control, trailer stability assist, active torque vectoring, and more also help keep your Ascent moving with challenging terrain.

The ground clearance of 8.7”, optional 20” wheels, and four-wheel independent suspension also enhance off-roading performance while keeping the ride smooth and comfortable.

Subaru Ascent Features

The Subaru Ascent is built on a high steel rigid frame to provide more safety and a quieter cabin for a more relaxing ride.

You can access up to 17.6 cubic feet of cargo space in the rear and up to 86.5 cubic feet of cargo space total.

However, the Subaru Ascent brags about having 153.7 cubic feet of passenger space and underfloor cargo storage for everyone’s gear.

There are 19 water bottle and cup holders in the interior, allowing everyone to have enough storage for their drinks.

With the built-in Wi-fi and by having eight USB ports throughout the cab, everyone can stay connected and charge their favorite devices during trips.

The infotainment center is equipped with Subaru STARLINK to connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has built-in apps such as IHeartRadio and Magellan.

Also, the Subaru Ascent is a 2020 top safety pick. It incorporates safety features such as reverse automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot detection, and more.

So, the Subaru Ascent is smart, capable, safe, has advanced tech, enough room for everyone, and more. It should definitely be more popular than it is.
