It’s no secret that the only way to get the red-hot Ford Bronco is to order it. But even doing that won’t get you one very quickly. But there are some trims and options that take longer to get than others. The real hot combination right now is a two-door Wildtrak. If you ordered one, your wait will be longer. So which Bronco models and options get your order to the top of the list sooner? Here’s what you need to know.

What are the most popular Bronco trims?

As you may or may not know, the First Edition Bronco sold out so quickly that Ford doubled the production schedule to include more slots. The new slots also sold out immediately. When the First Edition was non longer available, the Wildtrak and Badlands became the hot Broncos to get. 

From there, the Everglades and Raptor became the most popular Broncos ordered. So the common thread is that the top trim Broncos get the most orders. With supply chain issues that also means they take more components to complete, which can choke production. 

What Bronco options take longer to get?

But Ford needs to keep the assembly lines cranking out product, so other, lesser optioned trims get pushed ahead of the others. “We’ve got overwhelming demand,” Ford Bronco Marketing Manager Mark Grueber told Muscle Cars and Trucks. “The most popular models are the pretty loaded ones. So your Badlands, your Wildtrak, 2.7-liter, Sasquatch, mod bumper, lux package, the fully decked out types.

“The units that are more readily available that you could get sooner would be something like a Big Bend series, which is our volume series, four-door, 2.3-liter automatic with a soft top, non-Sasquatch.” And the one that takes the longest is the Wldtrak two-door.

“I think in part because it looked like it was top-of-the-line because the starting price was the highest, First Edition aside,” Grueber said. The Badlands you can actually load up to be more than a Wildrak, but I think in part because of that it was the most constrained.” 

Why is the Wildtrak so popular?

So are Wildtrak two-door orders moving over to Bronco Raptor or Everglades because they’re the highest-priced Broncos? “I wouldn’t say necessarily that Bronco Everglades and Raptor conversion customers are coming from the Wildtrak two-door,” he said. “I think, in general, they are the higher-spec trims.” So now you know what Broncos make it up the order list faster. 

What is it about the Wildtrak that has caused it to be the most popular Bronco to order? First, the package starts with a Sasquatch. That means you get the electronic locking differentials and high-clearance suspension. It also includes position-sensitive Bilstein shocks. 

Then, Ford adds a Dana 44 AdvanTEK rear axle and Dana AdvanTEK independent differential in front. It also comes with the EcoBoost V6, large fender flares, 17-inch black bead-lock-capable wheels, and 35-inch tall BSW Mud-Terrain tires. There’s also off-road tech like the Trail Control and Terrain Management system.
