However, some luxury SUVs drop more value than their segment competition, like the Cadillac Escalade. However, one of the model’s more spacious offerings drops more value than the standard model: the stretched Cadillac Escalade ESV.
The Cadillac Escalade ESV ditches more value than the standard model
The Cadillac Escalade earned a top spot among the popular cars with the highest rates of depreciation. However, the longer ESV model loses more value in the first five years than the shorter standard model.

The ESV, which adds cargo space behind the third-row seats, has an average five-year depreciation rate of 58.5%. According to the latest iSeeCars data, the Escalade ESV takes the No. 5 spot on the list of the top 25 vehicles with the highest five-year depreciation. It’s an interesting position; the stretched luxury SUV is second only to BMW sedans and two Maseratis, the Ghibli, and the highest-depreciating vehicle on the list, the Quattroporte.
As a result, ESV owners might find that their Cadillac luxury SUV is worth around $63,885 less than it was when it was new. It’s a sobering prospect, but it’s also one of the only ways fans can snag the keys to an opulent SUV like the Escalade. Of course, even with a more attainable price tag, the Escalade’s four-year, 50,000-mile warranty won’t cover repairs outside that five-year window.
Still, the Escalade ESV scrubs off more of its value than the standard-length model. Specifically, the shorter trims have an average five-year depreciation rate of around 56.5%, 2.0% less than the ESV. That said, the luxury SUV’s 2.0% difference is just enough to snag the No. 12 spot in the top 25.
Unfortunately, that means owners who opted for the lengthy ESV model will retain less value.
