It turns out that no matter how much money you spend on a Jeep Wrangler, you can still get super stuck. Of course, anyone who has ever gone off-roading can tell you; you’ll eventually get stuck. However, most people don’t get stuck like this very often. But, when they do, Matt’s Off-Road Recovery are the folk’s to call. This $100k Jeep Wrangler needed a wild idea and four of Matt’s finest to get unsunk. This off-road towing adventure is one for the books. 

How do you get a Jeep Wrangler unstuck? 

Trying to ford a river in your Jeep Wrangler is a great way to wind up stuck and sunk. This video came to us via Motor1, who clarifies that while we don’t know exactly which modifications were done to this Jeep Wrangler, but people in the video claim it is a six-figure truck. From the little we can see popping out of the water, it’s clear that this rig is far from stock. However, the owner could have done less of whatever they did and installed a snorkel instead. 

How did Matt’s Off-Road Recovery get the Jeep Wrangler unstuck? 

Even though the wheels had sunk into the silt and the water level killed the truck, Matt and the boys quickly yank the Wrangler from the mire with the crazy idea of using another truck as a fulcrum to lift the Jeep. As the video shows, just getting the tow hooks set was harder than actually pulling the Wrangler out. 

Suction is the main force that makes pulling a sunk truck out from the mud. However, Matt’s Off-Road Recovery are pros and knew to throw an off-road buggy in the mix to act as a fulcrum to defend against the muddy suction. Instead of simply pulling the Jeep out, the second vehicle acted as a way to lift the Jeep from the mud before pulling. Smart, Matt. Smart. 

Now that the easy part of the off-road towing is done….

It can be tough, but pulling a truck out of the mud is pretty standard stuff. The real feat of this off-road recovery starts when Matt’s Off-Road Recovery has to tow the dead Jeep Wrangler back through miles of rough terrain. 

Since the Jeep died in the water, there was no power steering or brakes. Dragging the dead Wrangler over rocks and down and up hills took four different trucks by the end of it. But finally, at night fell on the trail; Matt’s and Co got the flat Jeep Wrangler back to the main road. Hopefully, this $100k rig can get set right and back on the trail. 

It’s always a little embarrassing to get your Jeep Wrangler stuck

Listen, we’ve all done it. I’ve done it plenty of times, but it is a little embarrassing every time. Modern Jeep Wranglers are slathered in off-road tech, plenty of torque, and tons of ground clearance. The fact that people can boulder and ford rivers in old CJs and vintage Broncos without getting stuck should mean that Wrangler drivers should have no problems at all. 

However, we know that isn’t true. The truth is that no amount of tech and sophisticated engineering can over overcome talent, experience, and skill. I’m not saying this driver didn’t have it; I’m just saying modern off-roaders have made it much easier to get out there past our limits without realizing it until it’s too late.
