The 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe PHEV performs like an average Wrangler
The 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe PHEV is part of a new wave of hybrid and electric vehicles. The entire automotive industry is making efforts to enact change due to the current climate crisis. Part of reducing emissions is creating green alternatives that consumers may actually choose over gas-powered models. So, how do you convince consumers to switch to a hybrid or electric vehicle for the first time?
Companies like Tesla and Rivian are introducing an original lineup of new electric vehicles that are vastly different than anything else on the market. More seasoned automakers like Ford and electrifying existing popular nameplates to capitalize off of an existing fan base. The Ford F-150 Lightning and Ford Mustang Mach-E are perfect examples of nameplates that have successfully made the transition to offering appealing alternatives.
Jeep is taking a page out of Ford’s book and shocking consumers by electrifying its most popular nameplate. The Wrangler is undoubtedly the most iconic Jeep model. There haven’t exactly been many ground-breaking modifications over the years, but the Wrangler has always been a fun compact SUV.
The 4xe is the Wrangler’s foothold in the electric future. As the automotive industry evolves, some nameplates will become less popular due to the developing electric vehicle infrastructure. Stellantis has done its best to ensure that the Wrangler survives. The 4xe doesn’t just look like the average Wrangler, but it also performs just as well.
