[Watch] Scared driver decides jumping out of a moving car to escape a spider is the right move
Jumping out of a perfectly operational car seems like a last resort. However, for some motorists, leaping out of a vehicle can come earlier on the list of responses to crappy situations. That was reportedly the case for one driver who abandoned their fifth-generation Hyundai Sonata to escape an eight-legged stowaway.
This driver surrendered their Hyundai Sonata to a spider by jumping out of the car and sending it into oncoming traffic
It would be bad enough to have a passenger in your moving vehicle flee at the sight of a spider. I mean, it’s already a safety concern. But for a driver to ditch their ride as it moves down a busy road is just lunacy. And for a spider no less.
Don’t get me wrong; we have some nasty spiders in the United States. For instance, the famed black widow can hospitalize susceptible people like children and the elderly. However, we don’t have much of a spider population with bites likely to kill adults. As such, there aren’t many reasons to abandon a moving car in traffic at the sight of a spider. Much less if you’re the driver.
Well, that’s reportedly what happened with one driver in their fifth-generation Hyundai Sonata. In a popular social media video, the driver appears to slam on the brakes, nearly causing a fender bender. However, the video then shows the driver jumping out of the car. It’s almost casual. They return to a trot and a walk soon after abandoning their car.
However, the Sonata refuses to stop, rolling forward to and to the left over a media. Unfortunately, the Hyundai sedan hops the median, door still open, as it careens toward oncoming traffic. All for a spider. Fortunately, the Sonata doesn’t appear to have hit any other motorists during its arachnid adventure. Needless to say, that driver is going to have a very strange conversation with her car insurance provider.
