Jeep has an iconic history of tackling monster terrain. From the snow-packed countryside of wartime France and Germany to the rocky passes of the Rubicon Trail and beyond, the American nameplate has been there. However, some wild Jeep Wrangler builds simply aren’t ready for the rigors of flight. More accurately, they’re not ready for a hard landing.

This custom Jeep Wrangler did its best origami impression after vaulting over a jump and fell apart in the process

Everyone loves watching a vehicle get massive air. I mean, who doesn’t love watching a driver go full-send over a jump with so much momentum that you think they’ll get into trouble with the FAA? Well, these guys in their custom Jeep Wrangler sure did. And the results are something akin to a slow-motion train wreck.

The custom rig, an extended two-door Wrangler with long-travel suspension and an open cockpit, simply wasn’t ready for an off-road maneuver like this. A slow-motion video shows the Wrangler diving over a jump, making hard contact with its front wheels. The under-inflated tires squish in protest, but it’s the driveshaft that gives up first, settling into the dust.

However, as the caption suggests, it gets worse the longer you watch. Incidentally, the entire front end goes, snapping back under the center of the Jeep. Tragically, the Wrangler comes to rest in a nose-down posture you’d expect from an emergency landing in a World War II prop plane.

Humorously, several commenters pointed out that the spectacular crash was “in front of a packed house.” One glance at the video reveals a sparsely populated arena. However, the lack of onlookers doesn’t make the event any less embarrassing. Needless to say, it’ll be a while before you see that Wrangler build take on another jump.

Watch the comedy of errors in an Instagram post below! But be warned, if you’re sensitive to the demise of a custom Wrangler, you might want to take a deep breath.
