Get ready for about two minutes of pure zen. X user @merrylove posted a video of a Mazda MX-5 Miata RC car built on an M-04M Tamiya chassis kit taking a joyride. The results are almost poetic.
The Miata zips along brick paths, cornering with simply charming body tilt. At 00:19, it drifts over a fallen curled-up leaf without crushing it. Starting at 00:59, it picks up speed and nonchalantly zooms around a few tight turns, skidding slightly but comfortably righting itself.
The shots are fabulous. @miata tweets reposted the video, and the comments are full of folks beyond thankful for the cinematic gift.
Now, about this RC car. The Tamiya Eunos Roadster 58325 M-04M Chassis was released back in 2004. According to TamiyaBase, a Tamiya product database for fans, the RC kit was last retailed in 2010 and cost 11,000 yen, or about $73 USD.
The little RC Miata’s impressive shock absorption can be attributed to its double-wishbone style front and rear suspension. For cornering grip, it has its radial tires to thank.
The car is about 15 inches long and less than five inches tall, so it’s super boopable.
It looks like there are still active listings of the Eunos Roadster on eBay for about $400.
