Whispers of the Audi e-tron GT have turned into a loud roar that has echoed in our minds until now, as we sit a mere few days away from its official debut. The official debut will be hosted by Audi’s streaming service and is free for viewers to enjoy from the comfort of their home with just a few clicks. That’s right — in less than a week, February 9th at 7 pm — we will get to view what is sure to be a turning point for the German car manufacturer and a large leap forward for the future of electric vehicles as they continue to grow in popularity to inevitable take over the large-production automotive market.

Once Porsche began producing a powerful four-door sedan with an electric drive-train, it was only a matter of time before similar luxury-performance brands followed suit. The Audi e-tron GT was an inevitability for the brand, but that didn’t make us any less excited when rumors of its conception and future production began to circulate. Now, just days away from the introduction of the production-standard model of the Audi e-tron GT, we will get to see how far it goes to meet our high expectations.

A turning point

Since the unveiling of one of the most exciting all-electric cars of the year, the Audi e-tron GT concept car has left us quietly and anxiously awaiting the true production model. A competitor among a rising class of luxury sports-sedans, the e-tron GT will likely be the biggest competitor to the Porsche Taycan, one of the fastest four-door vehicles you can buy with an exclusively electric drivetrain.

What we know now

While we have only been catching glimpses of spy-shots and concept models, we have no doubt that the Audi e-tron GT will stand out on the roadways just as much as its top competition, the Porsche Taycan, has. Since it hasn’t been officially released, there have been no reports or reviews for test drives, but from the tidbits the manufacturer has released, we are already sitting at the edge of our seats. According to Audi, the e-tron GT will feature an all-wheel-drive system in true Quattro style. The manufacturer also claims that the new sports sedan will go from 0 – 60 mph in 3.5 seconds for the base model and as fast as 3.0 seconds in the RS model.
