We Won’t See the New Ram EV Truck Until January
Many of us are excited to see the new electric Ram Revolution truck. But, we will have to wait a little while longer. The Ram Revolution, as it is being called, is expected to compete with the new Silverado EV, Sierra EV and the hugely popular Ford F-150-lightning trucks. Ram’s CEO had said that he wanted to reveal the truck at the L.A. Auto Show, but now that reveal has been called off.
The new Ram EV truck will be revealed in January
We’ll have to wait until January 5 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Why CES? Well, it’s the next big show on the calendar. Also, the new EV truck should be at home among all the other electric goodies at CES, like the newest gaming systems, TVs, phones, and PCs. The L.A. Auto Show begins in a just a few weeks.
Ram CEO Mike Koval Jr. told The Detroit News that, while the company was committed to bringing the Ram truck to the L.A. Auto Show, “It makes perfect sense to reveal the vehicle at CES 2023.”
CES should be the first big show of 2024
This week, fans of aftermarket and custom goodies are in Las Vegas for the Specialty Equipment Market Association, or SEMA, show. This week, journalists and others are exploring the aftermarket goodies at SEMA. Then, beginning November 18, manufacturers will bring their newest vehicles to the L.A. Auto Show. The L.A. show covers more than 1 million square-feet of space and more than 100 manufacturers are expected to attend.
Ram is being coy with details on the new truck
Ram keeps teasing us with promises for the RAM Revolution BEV Concept. In a new news release, the company didn’t share the stuff we want to know about, like power, range or trim levels. But, Ram did say the new truck will “redefine the pickup segment,” as the company moves toward an all-electric future. Ram did say that it’s making range, towing, payload, and charge time, priorities for the new truck. Also, though it said that the concept version will appear in January, it confirmed that the production version of the Ram 1500 BEV, or battery-electric vehicle, will debut sometime in 2024.
Ram’s EV will have to compete with the Ford and Chevy EV trucks
The 2024 Ram EV will have to contend with the new GMC Sierra EV, Chevy Silverado EV and the Ford F-150 Lightning. We’re sure comparison tests will abound. Ram has not released pricing, but both the Silverado EV and the Ford Lightning start in the mid $40,000 range. The Sierra EV will come in 2024 and, initially, start at about $107,000.
Though we’re still waiting to see Chevy’s new EV truck, a lot has been made about the 2024 GMC EV’s and Silverado EV’s four-wheel steering and its expected massive horsepower. The Silverado gets fast-charging capability through the Ultium Charge 360 Fleet Service and a 400-mile range so you can get to the job site. The five-seat truck also has customizable storage in the front and easy-to-clean upholstery.
The Lightning can be ordered in basic, or Pro, trim for$46,974. The top-of-the-line Platinum version is a shocking $96,874. The Range of the Lightning varies from 230 miles to 320 miles, depending on which battery pack you order. We Won’t See the New Ram EV Truck Until January
