We’ve been spying on the new Volkswagen Amarok for a while now and found some interesting new leads. Reportedly, multiple clues suggest that the 2023 Volkswagen Amarok will make it to American dealerships, providing midsize trucks with a new rival. 

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Amarok coming to America? 

Maybe, that’s what we’re here to investigate. New clues provide evidence about the 2023 Volkswagen Amarok making it to the United States soon. Also, the new Amarok will make its global debut soon, on July 7. 

Back in May 2021, Volkswagen filed a trademark for the Amarok name in America. According to Gear Junkie, this indicates that the Amarok could come to the United States because why would they file for a name that they don’t intend to use here? 

Volkswagen filed for the trademark a few weeks after announcing its partnership with Ford. That gave both Ford and VW time to discuss things like how to design the trucks and where they can be built. 

The 2023 Ford Ranger will be built in the Wayne, Michigan plant, and it will be sold in the United States and Canada. The new Ranger and Amarok share the same platform and have similar designs. 

This could mean that the 2023 VW Amarok would be easy to build beside the Ranger. This would help Volkswagen avoid the 25 percent chicken tax on imported vehicles. Plus, it may allow the Amarok to meet America’s higher emission standards. 

What we know about the 2023 VW Amarok 

Some critics are skeptical about the 2023 Volkswagen Amarok coming to America because it will be too similar to the 2023 Ford Ranger. However, the VW Amarok aims for more of a luxury option. It’s called the premium pickup truck. 

Also, the Ford and Volkswagen partnership is getting pretty involved. VW plans to supply platforms for Ford’s electric vehicles. 

Recent teasers promote the Amarok’s diesel engine options. It could gain the 3.0-liter V6 Power Stroke diesel engine from the 2023 Ranger. It cranks out 247 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque. The Amarok could have a slightly higher output. 

The outgoing model features a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel engine with 255 hp and 428 lb-ft of torque. But the new diesel engine probably won’t be available in America with the Ranger or Amarok. 

The VW Amarok is loaded with tech 

Clues suggest that the 2023 Volkswagen Amarok features a ton of advanced tech. It will offer 30 different driver assistance features, while the current model only offers 10. Plus, the Matrix LED headlights work around traffic to avoid glare while maximizing visibility. 

Volkswagen hasn’t provided a list of the available feature yet. However, it’s safe to expect a new head-up display, digital gauge cluster, and massive infotainment screen options. VW often provides excellent audio systems as well. 

The interior design is currently a mystery. However, the VW Amarok is a premium truck, so expect high-quality materials such as leather upholstery, pops of carbon-fiber trim, and soft-touch surfaces. 

The Amarok will be available with a few trim levels, including an off-roading variant. However, it probably won’t be as rugged and capable as the 2023 Ford ranger Raptor. We can’t wait to learn more on July 7!
