Kia’s sharp, focused four-door Stinger boasts quick acceleration, capable handling, and a pleasant sound. It’s not just a sports sedan; it proved for over five years that Kia could build a performance car. However, you might not know that the Stinger is quick enough to beat several cars that marques bill as performance options, like the Ford Mustang EcoBoost. Here’s a list of sedans and coupes that can’t keep up with the Stinger, especially the GT2 with its 4.6-second sprint to 60 mph.

  • Ford Mustang EcoBoost
  • Chevrolet Camaro 3LT
  • Jaguar XF
  • Dodge Charger R/T
  • Audi A4

Is a Kia Stinger faster than a Ford Mustang EcoBoost?

The Kia Stinger is quicker than a Ford Mustang EcoBoost, if also quite a bit more expensive. The EcoBoost produces 310 horsepower from its 2.3L turbocharged four-cylinder engine. As a result, the EcoBoost scooted to sixty in 5.1 seconds in Car and Driver’s most recent testing. However, it’s not quick enough to best the V6-powered four-door Kia sedan.

Can the Kia Stinger beat a Chevrolet Camaro 3LT?

Much like the Ford Mustang EcoBoost, the Chevrolet Camaro 3LT can’t keep up with the Kia Stinger GT2. The four-cylinder Camaro hit 60 mph in 5.1 seconds, just like the EcoBoost. While both four-cylinder muscle cars can beat the Stinger GT-Line to sixty, they can’t quite keep up with the 368-horsepower GT2.

Is a Kia Stinger faster than a Jaguar XF?

The Jaguar XF, despite the marque’s racing pedigree, isn’t as quick as the Jaguar XF. Forget the 3.3L V6-powered Stinger GT2; the four-cylinder GT-Line beats both engine options that the Jaguar offers. The 2023 Jaguar XF with the 246-horsepower P250 requires 6.5 seconds, and the 296-horsepower P300 powerplant will do the run to sixty in 5.8 seconds. That means the GT-Line can beat it with its MotorTrend-tested time of 5.7 seconds.

How fast is a Dodge Charger R/T?

The Dodge Charger R/T, with its 370-horsepower 5.7L Hemi V8, hit sixty in 5.1 seconds in the latest Car and Driver testing. Still, even with V8 power, it’s not enough to outrun the poised Kia Stinger GT2. However, the Stinger GT2’s starting price of $52,935 is quite a bit higher than the R/T’s $42,605.

Is the Audi A4 faster than a Stinger?

Despite the tried and tested Audi Quattro all-wheel drive (AWD) system, the A4 isn’t quite quick enough to overtake the Kia Stinger GT2. Car and Driver tested the snappier 45 drivetrain, which adds 60 horsepower over the 40 option, and the result was a 4.8-second run to 60 mph. While that’s seriously fast for a four-door sedan, it’s not swift enough to beat the GT2’s 4.7-second sprint.

Which car should you buy?

The Kia Stinger is quick, handsomely styled, and surprisingly posh for a Kia product. However, with a starting price of $52,935, the GT2 is pretty pricey. Instead, you could buy a 485-horsepower Charger R/T Scat Pack or a much sharper Audi S4 for nearly the same price tag.
