What Dodge SUV Models Are Still Available For 2024?
Not so long ago, Dodge had a wide range of SUVs. The American automaker has slowly been cutting its lineup back, however. A few of the Dodge vehicles that are no more include the iconic Charger and Challenger. So which SUVs remain, and will they make it to 2024 or 2025?
What types of SUVs does Dodge have?
A quick view of Dodge’s vehicle page reveals a dire story. There are only four vehicles listed. These are the Charger, Challenger, Hornet, and Durango. As we already mentioned, two of these vehicles will soon be discontinued.
The Hornet is Dodge’s compact SUV and was released in 2023.
The Dodge Durango has been a staple of the lineup since 1997. It’s been popular enough and has been through a few updates over the years.
What is the 2024 Dodge Hornet?
The 2024 Dodge Hornet may be new, but it’s already developed a bit of a reputation, and it’s not a good one. So far, sales aren’t that great. In fact, it was rather dismal for the first half of 2023, and many are questioning if the Dodge Hornet is the least popular compact SUV on the market for 2023.
There are a few reasons for this. Even though it’s a compact SUV, Dodge is pushing it as a Compact Utility Vehicle, or CUV for short. This can be confusing for buyers who are interested in an SUV.
Then there’s the fact that the Hornet is definitely a performance SUV. It’s not exactly ideal for families, and this is the target group for compact SUVs.
The biggest issue of all is a new recall from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This is no minor recall, as the NHTSA is warning drivers to stop driving their Dodge Hornets and Alfa Tonale vehicles immediately. The main culprits are hybrid versions on the 2024 model, and it’s due to loose cables on the 12-volt batteries and loose high-voltage connections. This is an easy fix, however, so all owners need to do is visit their local Dodge dealership.
For anyone who is looking for a small SUV with loads of power, then the Hornet may be exactly what they’re looking for. There are two engine options. The first is a turbo four-cylinder, which is available on the GT and GT Plus trims. The second is a turbo four-cylinder with an electric motor, which is included in the R/T and R/T Plus.
The Dodge Hornet has a rather affordable price range for a compact SUV with so much power. The GT costs $30,735, the GT Plus $35,735, the R/T $40,935, and the R/T Plus $45,935.
Is Dodge discontinuing the Durango?
Even though the Durango is one of the most well-known Dodge models on the market, this wasn’t enough to save it from being discontinued. The 2024 model is the very last Durango to hit showroom floors unless it should be revived at a later date, much like the Ford Bronco. This doesn’t seem likely, however.
The 2023 Dodge Durango is equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 engine. Upper trims offer a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 and 6.4-liter Hemi SRT V8. The most powerful engine is the supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi SRT V8. There are 16 trims, and the price ranges from $40,640 to $105,810.
Even though the Durango will soon be no more, Dodge is going to replace it. The three-row SUV segment is simply too lucrative to ignore, after all. Dodge reportedly plans to introduce a new three-row SUV that will most likely be electric. It will also come with a new name. Whether Durango fans will embrace this new SUV remains to be seen.
