Hyundai has made a lot of inroads into the American SUV and truck markets. Along with the critically acclaimed Palisade, the Tucson is Hyundai’s offer to people who want a smaller SUV. Here are the features that come standard on the Hyundai Tucson.

The Tucson’s standard interior features

As U.S. News said, the Tucson comes standard with several great interior features. For example, every Tucson will come with a 7-inch touchscreen display. This touchscreen display supports Hyundai’s infotainment systems. This touchscreen is also compatible with Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto. Furthermore, U.S. News reports that car reviewers such as Autoblog and Kelley Blue Book thought that the touchscreen was very user-friendly.

Asides from the Tucson’s standard touchscreen, Hyundai also offers several other standard infotainment features. U.S. News says that these include a six-speaker stereo system, Bluetooth compatibility, as well as several USB ports. 

Other than the Tucson’s infotainment capabilities however, the rest of the Tucson’s interior doesn’t have much as standard. U.S. News says that Autoblog called the Tucson’s interior “bland but functional,” and Consumer Guide said something similar. This applies to the Tucson’s seats as well. The Tucson can seat five people with its standard cloth seats, and each person gets a decent amount of leg and headroom. 

However, as U.S. News said, even the 2020 Tucson’s seats had outdated designs which made them good enough, but not comparable to its competitors, such as the Honda CR-V. This is the same story for the Tucson’s cargo capacity. U.S. News reports that the Tucson has 31 cu. ft. of cargo space and about 62 cu. ft. of cargo space when its rear seats are folded. That’s good enough for most folks, but it’s still less than what Hyundai’s competitors have.

The Tucson’s standard performance features

When it comes to power, the Tucson is pretty lacking, especially in its standard configuration. U.S. News says that the Tucson has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine as standard. This engine gets 161-hp and 150 lb-ft of torque. Consumer Reports reported that the Tucson’s standard engine allowed it to accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH in just 11 seconds.

Practically every car reviewer, according to U.S. News, wasn’t satisfied with the power of the Tucson’s standard engine. Not only is the Tucson’s standard engine not powerful, but it’s also not very fuel-efficient, either. U.S. News says that the Tucson’s standard 2.0-liter gets 23 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on highways, which equals to about 26 MPG combined. 

And, while SUVs can’t tow like trucks can, some SUV drivers do tow stuff with their SUVs. In this area, the Tucson doesn’t perform well, either. Hyundai says that the standard engine of the Tucson can only tow about 1,000 lb. 

The Tucson’s standard safety features

While the Tucson’s standard engine offers lackluster performance, Hyundai offers a lot of standard safety features on the Tucson. This is thanks to Hyundai’s SmartSense safety package, which offers a suite of safety features for many of Hyundai’s cars. For example, U.S. News says that the Tucson comes standard with a forward-collision warning system, an automatic emergency braking system, and lane keep assist.

Furthermore, Hyundai also offers a driver drowsiness monitoring system. As its name implies, this system measures how sleepy the driver is, and if it determines that the driver is too sleepy, it’ll alert them in order to prevent a crash. 

Other standard safety features on the Tucson include a blind-spot collision warning system and several rear-seat alert systems aimed at preventing hot car deaths. Due to these standard safety features as well as the Tucson’s crash test results, U.S. News gave the Tucson a 9.8 out of 10 for safety.
