The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the most notable SUVs on the market today. The Trackhawk trim of the Grand Cherokee comes equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 that generates over 700-hp, making the Grand Cherokee the most powerful SUV on the market. But that isn’t the only thing that Jeep offers on the Grand Cherokee. Here’s everything you need to know about the features that are available on the Grand Cherokee. 

The Grand Cherokee’s standard features

U.S. News says that the infotainment system that Jeep offers on the Grand Cherokee is “one of the best on the market.” This isn’t too surprising, as Jeep is owned by Fiat-Chrysler, and Fiat-Chrysler is also responsible for the award-winning interior that’s on Ram’s trucks.

In the standard Grand Cherokee, U.S. News says that there’s a 7 inch touchscreen display that’s fully compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Grand Cherokee also has two USB ports, Bluetooth compatibility, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, and a six-speaker stereo system as standard, according to U.S. News.

All of these standard infotainment features are also linked together through Jeep’s Uconnect system. Car reviewers such as Autoblog and Kelley Blue Book all praised the usefulness and intuitiveness of Jeep’s Uconnect system. U.S. News also says that Uconnect has voice commands, customizable menus, and that the touchscreen has some good-looking graphics. 

Furthermore, Jeep has several physical controls built into the Grand Cherokee in case the touchscreen fails or stops working.

The Grand Cherokee’s optional features

While the standard features on the Grand Cherokee are impressive, Jeep also offers premium upgrades to the interior of this SUV. Some of these upgrades includes a larger 8.4 inch touchscreen as well as a touchscreen display that also has a navigation system built into it.

On top of that, Jeep also offers two additional USB ports, a household-style power outlet, HD radio, satellite radio, a rear-seat entertainment system, and the choice between two premium stereo systems, one with nine-speakers and the other with 19-speakers. Jeep also offers a 4G WiFi hotspot on the Grand Cherokee, and Jeep says that up to eight devices can be connected to it at the same time. 

Additionally, Jeep offers many features for off-roading. Some of these include four-wheel drive, an advanced suspension system, as well as three powerful engine options. The Grand Cherokee has a 3.6-liter V6 as standard and it generates 295-hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. For its options, Jeep offers three V8 engines. 

There’s a 5.7-liter V8 that generates 360-hp and 395 lb-ft of torque, a 6.4-liter V8 that generates 475-hp and 470 lb-ft of torque, and the extremely powerful 6.2-liter V8 that generates 707-hp and 645 lb-ft of torque.

The Grand Cherokee’s smart safety features

In terms of safety, the Grand Cherokee offers a fairly even mix of standard and optional smart safety features. U.S. News reports that blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and rear parking sensors are standard smart safety features on the Grand Cherokee. 

In terms of options, Jeep offers forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking on the Grand Cherokee. Some of these systems, like forward collision warning or automatic emergency braking, are standard features on other SUVs, while systems such as rear cross traffic alert aren’t standard features on them. 

When these mediocre standard smart safety features are combined with the decent crash test results of the Grand Cherokee, U.S. News gave the Grand Cherokee an overall safety rating of 8.5 out of 10. It’s clearly a safe SUV to own, but it’s not as safe as SUVs that take safety a bit more seriously.
