Part of the fun of owning a Jeep Wrangler is customizing it. Whether you add decals, go for a custom paint job, or install a tent so you can camp while off-roading, there are a lot of options to make a Wrangler uniquely your own. 

Not everyone is interested in jazzing up their Wrangler, however. Some people are in love with the classic Wrangler look that made both military personnel and civilians alike obsessed with it, and that’s perfectly OK. If this is the case, you may be happy with the base Sport model.

Standard Wheels

If you plan on skipping the bridge as you go through the woods to grandma’s house, you’re going to need some wheels that can handle crossing the river, and the 2020 Wrangler is up for the challenge. 

Depending on which model you get, there are several wheel options that come standard. All of them are 17″ wheels, so you’ll be riding high as you travel down the road of life. The color depends on the color model you choose. 

Under the hood

One of the first questions consumers will ask is if 4WD is standard on the Wrangler, and according to Edmunds the answer is yes. So whether you plan on cruising over sand dunes or avoiding rush hour traffic, you’re in luck.

According to Road Show, “The Wrangler’s base engine is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, which makes 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. It can be mated to either an eight-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual.”

The Wrangler also gets 22 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. This means you won’t be winning any races, but anyone who buys a Wrangler isn’t thinking about hitting the track. Not unless it’s a dirt track, anyways.

Either way, it’s a huge improvement over past Wranglers, which only got about 17 mpg.

Basic warranty

One of the major benefits of buying new as opposed to used is the warranty. Even if your Wrangler never needs a single repair, which is highly unlikely, knowing that you can swing by the dealership and have repairs made without having to bust out your checkbook is comforting.

Jeep offers a standard warranty up to 36,000 miles, so you know you’re covered. 

Soft top

According to Car and Driver, the Wrangler comes standard with a removable soft top. If you prefer a hardtop, there are a lot of options offered by Jeep, including tops the same color as the body of your Wrangler. 

Technology

If you’ve still got a Wrangler with a cassette tape player in the dash, and you’re looking to upgrade, you’ll be excited to know that Jeep has changed things up. Not all automakers make the new tech available standard, but the 2020 Wrangler offers a Uconnect infotainment system on all its models.

This doesn’t mean that all things are still equal, however. According to Road Show, standard models offer a 5″ touch screen with physical push buttons, while there is an option to upgrade to 7″ and 8.4″ screen that comes button free.

Seating

If you get a 2 door model, there is available seating for four people. On the Wrangler Unlimited, you can sit up to five people. 

The seats come standard with a cloth interior, but there is always the option to upgrade to leather.

Pricing

Unfortunately, the Wrangler price is not standardized. It all depends on which model you choose to get, as well as which features you choose to add, if any. The base Sport model starts at $31,795, and the price rises steadily from there.
