The Chevrolet brand is already hitting the 2021 model year running, recently unveiled its newest, redesigned flagship SUVs, the Suburban and Tahoe. With a ton of improvements, redesigns, and new features, people can’t seem to stop talking about the new Tahoe. But what does the Tahoe’s new design include? Here’s what you can expect from the upcoming 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and the features that will come standard.

Completely new design for the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe

Just recently, Chevrolet unveiled its newest version of the Chevrolet Tahoe, one of its flagship, full-size SUVs. The 2021 Tahoe isn’t just being refreshed, undergoing a complete transformation inside and out. According to Road and Track, the new Suburban and Tahoe “borrow much of their design from the 2020 Silverado pickup, with thin headlights, a horizontally split grille, and C-shaped daytime running lights.”

The redesign also adds 6.7 inches in length to the 2021 Tahoe, allowing for 30 more cubic feet than the previous model. The new design on the off-roading, Z71 edition offers an even more striking, blacked-out grille, bumper modified for off-roading, and tow hooks.

LED head and taillamps now come standard with the new Chevrolet Tahoe, as well as active front grille shutters, three new exterior color options, and 18-inch wheels. The newly redesigned Chevrolet Tahoe will have an estimated base price of around $49,000, according to Car and Driver.

What comes under the hood of the new 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe?

Though three engines will be available on the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, only one will come standard on lower trims. On Tahoe LS, LT, Z71, RST, and Premier variants, a 5.3-liter eight-cylinder engine comes standard. This eight-cylinder makes 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. Available on these trims is another eight-cylinder engine, but larger capacity at 6.2-liters, making 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. The powerful eight-cylinder comes standard on High Country variants.

Also available on almost all trim levels is a 3.0-liter Duramax diesel that makes 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. All Tahoe engines will come paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission with push-button electronic shift. This standard transmission comes with either rear- or all-wheel drive, though four-wheel drive is available.

The Chevrolet Tahoe’s chassis is also redesigned to adapt to its new, standard, fully independent suspension. A longer wheelbase and independent multilink rear suspension help to improve the Tahoe’s ride quality and control. New owners can also take advantage of an optional Air Ride Adaptive Suspension system. According to Chevrolet, this suspension system “optimizes ride height comfort by adjusting the suspension to driving conditions.”

Standard features for the Chevrolet Tahoe’s interior and safety (and what’s available)

The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe comes with a ton of new standard technology like rear park assist, automatic headlights, forward collision alerts, front pedestrian braking, automatic emergency braking, hitch guidance, as well as a rearview camera. Available options include blind zone alerts, a head-up display, and rear pedestrian alerts.

An enormous, 10-inch touchscreen will now come standard in every Chevrolet Tahoe, as well as a 4.2-inch gauge cluster screen in most trim variants. On higher trims, a larger, 8.0-inch cluster screen comes standard. Available interior options include dual, 12.6-inch rear-seat LCD displays. Of course, all infotainment systems come standard with connectivity features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities.

According to Chevrolet, there is “sixty-six percent more cargo room behind the third row for the Tahoe,” as well as 10 inches more of third-row legroom. More space for the second and third-row in the 2021 Tahoe equates to a massive, 122.9 cubic feet of cargo capacity. The redesigned, 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is set to hit dealerships mid-way through 2020.
