What Ever Happened to Paris Hilton’s Famous McLaren SLR?
Many car enthusiasts would argue that the most famous Mercedes McLaren SLR is the one owned by the one and only Paris Hilton. It isn’t unusual for celebrities to own unique and expensive cars, so it’s no surprise to have seen Paris behind the wheel of this sporty and luxurious roadster. In this way, the world of celebrities and pop culture mix with the world of automotive enthusiasts. But, it was many years ago that Paris Hilton owned her McLaren SLR, so whatever happened to it?
The famous Paris Hilton McLaren SLR
Back in the early 2000s when she was in her peak celebrity status, Paris Hilton owning a car was enough to bring it into the spotlight. This McLaren SLR received a little bit of extra attention when it was spotted with a few other celebrities at Paris’s side: Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan.
This also happened to be the car in which Britney Spears was photographed in a rather unflattering way by paparazzi, making the front page of newspapers and magazines for days.
The Mercedes McLaren SLR
The name may seem confusing to some buyers: is it a Mercedes, or a McLaren, or perhaps a car made as the production of a conjoined project between the two? A quick glance at the car itself shows that everything about the odd supercar is iconically Mercedes for the generation. As a collectors car, there is a lot of discrepancy about how much these cost to purchase in today’s exotic collector car market.
The McLaren SLR is produced by Mercedes-Benz themselves, as the styling suggests, and comes with a 5.4 liter V8 engine pushing 617 hp. With a touch of luxury and a lot of unique styling cues, it’s easy to see why this would be the car choice of any celebrity of the time.
Who owns the famous McLaren SLR now?
VINWIKI founder and automotive enthusiast Ed Bolian shared his story of how he came t0 find the famous McLaren SLR owned by Paris Hilton up for sale. Ed explains that driving the car is an overall weird experience, from acceleration to shifting to steering. But, he does mention that he loves the car even though it is quirky and odd to drive and own.
“It handles like a Batmobile, the hood is eternally long, the steering feel is a little bit strange, and it feels very much like a German, Mercedes AMG product where they didn’t care as much about it feeling as refined”
Ed Bolian, founder of VINWIKI
Luckily for collectors, Mr. Bolian doesn’t always keep cars, and it is likely that he will eventually sell Paris Hilton’s McLaren SLR eventually. This means fans of Paris or car enthusiasts interested in owning a part of pop culture history may have a chance at owning one, but there is no doubt such an iconic and expensive supercar will come with a hefty price tag should Ed ever decide to sell.
