One of the reasons many Super Duty trucks do not reach mileage that high is that they rust irreparably beforehand. In wintery states where road crews spread salt on the road. Most Super Duty owners report seeing rust appear on their trucks in about five years.

Ford’s Power Stroke diesel V8 often lasts even longer than its gasoline-powered engines. According to ProSource Diesel, diesel pickup engines sometimes last for 500,000 miles or more. But a diesel-powered Ford F-250 is considered high mileage anywhere over 350,000 miles.

What are warning signs for a high-mileage Ford F-250?

ProSource Diesel warns that the number of miles a Ford F-250 Super Duty will last depends on how it’s been used. An F-250, even with a Power Stroke diesel, pressed into heavy-duty service for years, will need repairs soon.

A high mileage Ford F-250 that’s spent its life towing and hauling may wear out sooner. If you are considering a truck, does it already have a fifth-wheel or gooseneck mounted for a heavy trailer?
