Over the past few years, Nissan has been integrating more technology into its vehicle design. NissanConnect is one such tech feature. What do you get with NissanConnect Services, how much does it cost, and which models have it? We answer those questions and more. 

What is included with NissanConnect Services?

NissanConnect begins with a basic set of features. They include hands-free phone service, AM/FM radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, voice recognition, Bluetooth, streaming audio, and a USB port. You can also add a Wi-Fi hotspot. 

Nissan also offers five packages to upgrade NissanConnect Services:

• Select package: Remote door locks, vehicle health reports, satellite navigational views, maintenance alerts, and over-the-air updates
• Plus package: MapCare, Tom Tom weather services, premium traffic views, and Sirius XM (offering many music stations, weather reports, fuel price alerts, and sports scores)
• Security package: Emergency support like automatic collision notifications, roadside assistance, emergency calls, stolen vehicle locators, and alarm alerts 
• Convenience package: Various remote control functions, such as engine start/stop, remote vehicle status, MyCar finder, journey planner, door-to-door navigation, and destination assistance.
• Premium package: Includes the Select, Security, and Convenience packages in one system. 

However, not all packages are available for all Nissan models. Check the options with the vehicle you’re considering purchasing. 

Do you have to pay for NissanConnect Services?

Some of the packages are included with your vehicle purchase, and some you will need to pay for. You won’t need a subscription to use the basic level, so it’s free. The Select and Plus packages are included with your new Nissan for five years. 

To add Wi-Fi to your vehicle, you’ll pay $20 a month. Your first charge will occur after a 30-day trial. For SiriusXM Satellite Radio, you get three months included, but you will pay a monthly fee after that, depending on the package you choose. 

Also, you will get six months of Nissan’s Security package with your purchase. After that, you will need to pay $8 monthly to continue using the service. The Convenience package also offers a six-month trial. Once that ends, you will be charged $8 a month. 

The last subscription service, the Premium package, comes with six months free. After that, it costs $12.99 a month. Remember that it also includes a few of the other packages (Select, Security, and Convenience). 

New-car buyers will be happy that the 2024 Altima includes a three-year NissanConnect Services trial instead of the six months with older models.

What models have NissanConnect?

Every new Nissan vehicle comes with NissanConnect Services. Some include the basic system, while others boast more services. As mentioned, the 2024 Nissan Altima and other models offer longer free trial periods. Here are the latest Nissan vehicles that include NissanConnect:

How to tell if your car has NissanConnect

Some form of NissanConnect is included in all new Nissan vehicles. However, if you have an older Nissan, only certain models offer these services. Check your owner’s manual if you don’t see an option for the service in your infotainment menu. You can also check availability through the Nissan website.

The automaker debuted NissanConnect in select vehicles for the 2016 model year. Over the next few years, more models were available with it. Today, the entire Nissan lineup integrates some form of this system. 

How to get NissanConnect Services

With a brand-new vehicle, you must enroll to use the trial periods of some of the packages. You can ask your dealer to register you at the time of purchase. Or you can download the MyNissan App onto your smartphone to sign up for whichever packages you want. 

For used models, there likely won’t be any trial periods unless the dealership offers a deal. Otherwise, you’ll need to pay for the monthly services if your vehicle has NissanConnect capability installed. 

NissanConnect is an excellent service that allows you to access emergency services, convenience features, and remote control systems to make your Nissan vehicle experience more satisfying. Which features you get will depend on the model you buy.
