In September 2021, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee debuted and garnered plenty of attention. Not only did it receive a redesign for the new model year, but the automaker announced the Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid SUV. Since the Grand Cherokee, and other large Jeeps, don’t have the best fuel economy, this was a welcomed addition for most. The standard model’s price came out in November, but now we have the 4xe price. How much is a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe?

According to Motor1, the brand new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid SUV starts at just under $60,000. Officially, the price is $57,700, but with the automaker’s $1,795 destination charge, you’re looking at $59,495. That’s a lot of cash for the entry-level hybrid Grand Cherokee. Comparatively, the standard Grand Cherokee starts at $39,185 with the destination fees. Moreover, you’ll be paying $20,000 extra for a plug-in hybrid powertrain instead of a standard gas-powered one.

The Grand Cherokee 4xe comes with more equipment

You didn’t think the same equipment would come in a model that’s $20,000 more expensive, did you? Of course, the 4xe is not only a plug-in hybrid but is more premium than its standard variant. It has leather heated seats, a 10.25-inch passenger touchscreen, Quadra-Trac II 4WD, and more. Next, it uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors to create a combined 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. Lastly, it can travel up to 25 miles on electric power alone.

In comparison, the regular Grand Cherokee comes with 2WD on the entry-level option. Additionally, none of the equipment mentioned earlier is included with a base model. That should make buyers a little more comfortable paying so much for the Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid SUV. It’s priced closer to the well-equipped Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit, which is $60,095 with destination fees.

When will the Grand Cherokee 4xe be available?

Nothing is guaranteed in the current car market. Whether it’s new or used, prices, inventory, and just about everything else are all over the place. While some vehicles are scheduled to arrive in Spring or Fall, they won’t arrive until much later. The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is currently expected to reach dealerships in the Spring of 2022. Whether or not the model will arrive on time is to be seen.
