The fastest stock Chevy car in terms of acceleration is the upcoming 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray. The E-Ray, which derives its name from the hybrid electric take on the sacred Stingray nameplate, will hit 60 mph in 2.5 seconds on its way to a blistering 10.5-second quarter mile.
Still, the E-Ray doesn’t quite own the highest top speed in the Bow Tie’s history books. According to Chevy, the brutally mighty 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will hit a stratospheric 212 mph, slightly higher than a Ferrari 488 Pista. As a result, the now-discontinued C7 ZR1 has the highest top speed of any stock Chevy car.
How is the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray so fast?
The 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray is the first hybridized model in the nameplate’s history. It pairs a 160-horsepower front-mounted electric motor with the Stingray’s 495-horsepower 6.2L LT2 V8 to produce 655 horsepower, just 15 fewer than the shrieking C8 Z06.
However, the E-Ray develops extra grip through its AWD platform, producing sure-footed launches and extra peace of mind in inclement weather. The General Motors engineer I spoke with (who insisted on anonymity) said that the project takes the Corvette to the next level, not unlike the midengine layout impact on the model in 2020. He called the E-Ray a year-round Corvette, citing that his previous-generation model wouldn’t handle the winter with the same dependable grip.
The E-Ray isn’t as far ahead of its siblings as you might think
While the new E-Ray manages to outsprint the other C8-generation Corvettes, its victory isn’t by a wide margin.

The E-Ray’s added grip buys it a single second over the Ferrari-esque Z06 in the sprint to 60 mph and the quarter mile. However, the base-model Stingray is no slouch, especially with the Z51 Performance Package. Chevrolet says that the C8 Stingray Z51, despite a sub-500-horsepower output, will hit 60 mph in under 3.0 seconds. As a result, the Stingray Z51 is one of the hottest performance bargains on the market.
What Chevy car has the most horsepower?
Unsurprisingly, the short-lived and shorter-fused C7 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is the most potent factory car the Bow Tie has ever produced. With 755 horsepower and 715 lb-ft of torque on tap, the ZR1 outmuscles the current C8 Z06 by 85 ponies.
Still, even with the surplus of power, the ZR1 can’t punch its way out of a straight-line shootout with the E-Ray. The new hybrid ‘Vette’s grip and balance make it the quickest Chevy car ever, barring the inevitable next King of Corvette Hill.
