What Lamborghini Did Dr. Strange Wreck?
One of Marvel’s most iconic superheroes is Benedict Cumberbatch’s Dr. Stephen Strange. This man of science turned man of faith is central to the Avengers team. But before being named the Sorcerer Supreme, Strange was a surgeon so successful, he drove a Lamborghini. Here’s more on the iconic Marvel movie vehicle.
What Lamborghini did Dr. Strange drive?
In the 2016 film, Doctor Strange, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Dr. Stephen Strange drove a silver Lamborghini Huracán model LP610-4. It was a V10-powered coupe that made 602 horsepower with a top speed of over 200 mph.
Lamborghini built the Huracán LP610-4 from 2014-2019. It was a wedge-shaped coupe with a mid-engine, AWD layout.
The Lamborghini Huracán‘s 5.2-liter V10 not only makes 602 horsepower but it’s also rated at 413 lb-ft of torque. That’s one horsepower for every 5.2 pounds of car! A 7-speed automatic transmission sends all this power to the wheels.
The LP610-4 coupe can reach 62 mph in 2.5 seconds. It continues on to finish the quarter-mile in just 10.3 seconds.
Lamborghini sent six of these $237,250 cars to Marvel to shoot Doctor Strange–according to Bloomberg. The filmmakers had to crash at least one of the supercars in the process.
How did Dr. Strange survive the car crash?
[Spoiler Alert] While Dr. Strange’s car crash may have looked horrific, his worst injuries were not life-threatening. But with his shattered hands, his career as a neurosurgeon was over.
The Lamborghini Huracán crash was an unforgettable scene in the Doctor Strange film. A truck bumped him out of his lane and he spun around many times before his airbag deployed and he smashed into the water. During the crash, his steering wheel broke and his hands plunged through his dashboard.
The successful neurosurgeon woke up in the hospital, his colleagues rushing him into surgery. While his girlfriend, Dr. Christine Palmer, and others are able to save his life, his healed hands were too shaky to resume his career.
The silver lining of Strange’s accident is that in his quest to heal himself, he discovers the mystic arts. His discoveries set him on course to become the Sorcerer Supreme and protect the Earth, alongside the Avengers. He donned the cape again in Spiderman: No Way Home. This spring, he’s returning in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness.
Marvel movie supercars
Doctor Stephen Strange is not the only Avenger with a wealthy alter ego who drives a supercar. Marvel’s cinematic universe kicked off with Robert Downey Jr.’s unforgettable portrayal of Tony Stark/Iron Man.
The engineering-minded Tony Stark and his Audi R8 seemed made for one another. Audi continued to provide cars for Tony Stark, throughout one Avengers movie after another. By Avengers: Endgame, Stark drove Audi’s electric E-Tron GT. But the filmmakers added some VROOM noises in post-production for dramatic effect.
Perhaps the wealthiest MCU character is King T’Challa/The Black Panther. Instead of a supercar, he zips around the world in an invisible jet.
During The Black Panther, T’Challa finds himself in Seoul, South Korea with a convoy of baddies escaping his grasp. His jet is nowhere in sight, so he chases the villains on foot. His sister, Shuri, is able to hack a Lexus LC500 coupe to chase down the convoy. So, the Black Panther leaps onto the top of the car and hangs on tight.
