Inside the Tundra, Toyota created a “Technical Muscle” motif. This combines technological sophistication with impressive capabilities and interior refinement. Premium materials abound in the new Tundra, especially for high-contact areas, such as the armrests, doors, and pads across the dashboard. 

The cabin offers a wealth of premium features. Examples include a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, and a panoramic roof. Also, the Tundra has many new technology features, such as an all-new multimedia system with an available 14-inch touchscreen.

New hybrid engine for the 2022 Tundra

Drivers of the 2022 Tundra can enjoy the impressive power output of the truck. The Tundra offers two robust powertrain options: a hybrid twin-turbo V6 and a twin-turbo V6. Hybrid vehicles typically don’t have a reputation for high-level performance. However, the new Tundra defies expectations, as the hybrid powertrain is actually more powerful than the base-level V6.

Combining a new i-FORCE MAX engine with an electric motor, the Tundra Hybrid doles out a mighty 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque. In comparison, the base-level V6 engine for the Tundra generates 389 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. 

Both engines of the new Tundra are mated to 10-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission. The transmission has an uphill/downhill shift logic feature and a sequential shift mode, as well as a TOW/HAUL driving modes. 

In addition to the new powertrains and transmission, the Tundra features a new suspension for both the front and rear. For the front, the Tundra has a new double suspension — and for the rear, it has a new multi-link rear suspension with coil springs. The new suspension provides improvements for the driving experience of the new Tundra in multiple ways. This includes ride comfort, performance, stability, and handling. 

What’s the towing and payload capacity of the 2022 Toyota Tundra?

The 2022 Toyota Tundra is a towing beast. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 12,000 pounds. This towing capacity is a 17% increase over the previous generation model. Also, the Tundra has a higher payload capacity (1,940 pounds), which is an increase of 11%.
