The good news is that the new Santa Fe Plug-In Hybrid certainly delivers in this area. Unfortunately, the Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-In Hybrid models are only being released to limited markets. So, if you’re looking to make the switch to a plug-in hybrid SUV? Here is how you can get your hands on Hyundai’s newest plug-in hybrid SUV:

MotorTrend reports that the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-In Hybrid is only available for purchase in certain states. Those states include California, Colorado, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Of course, sales may expand to other markets in the future as the model year continues. However, for now, this plug-in hybrid is only available in the states mentioned above.

As for why that is? Like many other automotive manufacturers of plug-in hybrids and EVs, Hyundai is releasing the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid in limited markets. This is likely to gauge reception with customer bases already familiar with this new technology.

Does the Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-In Hybrid have good fuel economy?

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, you can expect the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-In Hybrid to deliver an EPA-estimated 76MPGe combined city/highway. You can also expect it to deliver 33 mpg combined city/highway when running on gas only.

But before you start planning your trip to California to purchase one of these plug-in hybrid SUVs, you should make sure its fuel economy numbers fit into your lifestyle. Thanks to its hybrid engine, this SUV gets fuel economy ratings comparable to some compact cars. Because this is a hybrid model, city mileage is typically better than highway mileage, with the electric motor getting the car going from a stop and the engine taking over for the most part at higher, sustained speeds, but this is still very impressive for an SUV.

The electric motor on this crossover can also run the car with zero gas engine input. With an electric-only range of 31 miles, many commuters around the country can drive to work and back just on the electric motor, making this one of the best substitutes for a fully-electric EV.

How much is a Santa Fe PHEV?

The Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-In Hybrid is offered in two distinct trim levels. The SEL Convenience has a starting price of $40,000 and is standard with features like an 8-way power driver seat, heated front seats, and an 8-inch color touchscreen audio display. Upgrade to the Limited, which starts at $46,010. You can expect features such as leather-trimmed seats, heated and ventilated front seats, a Harmon Kardon premium audio system, and 10.25-inch touchscreen navigation and traffic flow display.

While the gas-powered Hyundai Santa Fe starts at $27,700, the Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-In Hybrid is a great investment if you’re in the market for a new SUV with incredible fuel economy ratings.
