What The Heck Were Chevy Silverado Pickups Doing At A White House Event?
We live in a divided country. It’s a damn shame because Republican or Democrat, we’re all Americans. Deep down, we all want the same things. There are just nuances that get aggravated to the extent that they are now. And with an election coming in a little over three months things are going to get a lot worse. So do you want to see cars out of politics? Better not read any further because now it’s infecting the automotive world via the White House lawn.
President Trump, Vice President Pence, and some other Trump administration figures, gathered on the White House lawn today. But what else featured prominently? Why look; there are two Chevy Silverado pickups and a crane sitting on the steps of the White House. Of course, General Motors was quick to say it had nothing to do with the prominent placement of the Chevy trucks at the media event.
“Actually, we weren’t aware of the event beforehand but looks like they chose a great truck.”
When the media types at GM were queried about the polarizing placement, they told Jalopnik, “Actually, we weren’t aware of the event beforehand but looks like they chose a great truck.” It’s a typical media geek response that quells both sides of the political spectrum.
And the point of the event? It was to graphically display weights lifted from the red Chevy truck being placed into the bed of the blue truck. With red representing the Republican party and the blue representing the Democratic party. We can only guess that the representation suggests that Republicans are shifting the blame of regulations they and the Dems imposed and placing them at the feet of Democrats. Seems like a lot of logistics and drama for a weak message.
The pickups are there, so does the company approve of that or not?
Thankfully, Motor Biscuit does not wade into political nonsense. But it raises the idea that General Motors should at the very least either fess up or denounce the prominent placement of two of its most profitable, important products. The pickups are there, so does the company approve of that or not?
Somebody approves of the messaging that the Trump administration is conveying with the placement of two Chevy trucks. That either supports GM’s official stance or doesn’t. Though President Trump is currently behind in the polls, he was expected by most all polls to lose in 2016. So forget the current polls. GM needs to reveal whom it supports as a corporation since its trucks are representing President Trump.
We’re confused as to whether bringing back incandescent bulbs is a good thing or bad
At this media extravaganza, President Trump attacked regulations that are applied to showerheads and dishwashers. He said that when you take a shower the water won’t come out. He added that you have to run your dishwasher three times to get your stuff cleaned. And, he takes credit for bringing back “old fashioned incandescent light bulbs.” We’re confused as to whether bringing back incandescent bulbs is a good thing or bad.
In the end, does it matter whether GM approves or disapproves of President Trump using its trucks to support his administration’s direction? No. But it would be something we’d all like to hear about. GM, you can’t have it both ways.
