Hyundai deserves a lot of credit for the cars it has rolled out over the years. The Veloster N is no exception. Until 2019, Honda ruled the auto world in performance in terms of ‘hot hatch’ cars, but this has all changed. Now, Hyundai has created a sporty car that rules in performance – the Hyundai Veloster N. This has led to increased thought of different types of “N” models that would be beneficial – such as the Hyundai Palisade N – yet to be built. But, boy, Hyundai had fun teasing auto enthusiasts about it.

It’s undeniable – Hyundai has a sense of humor. Not everyone finds it so funny because the company teased about the creation of the Veloster N Palisade. Those that love the Veloster N and those that love the Palisade were thrilled. But will Hyundai follow through? Will the Veloster N Palisade come into existence? No one knows.

The Hyundai Veloster N

The “N” in the Hyundai Veloster N is one of the most talked-about aspects of the car. In this case, “N” refers to “Namyang,” which is the research and development center for the company. Right now, the only Hyundai vehicle with the “N” designation is the Veloster, and it represents high performance. The ‘hot hatch’ concept is in reference to any hatchback built for performance – such as the Veloster N – which was released in 2019 by Hyundai.

Most often, the Hyundai Veloster N is comparable to the Honda Civic Type-R. Externally, the Veloster N features the “N design” bumper that also includes brake-cooling air ducts and an integrated rear diffuser.

To get that exceptional performance, the Veloster N has a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 250 hp. The performance package has an increased horsepower output of 275. The performance parts get drivers from 0 to 60 MPH in 5.5 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 14.2 seconds. Straight-line performance isn’t the goal though. The goal is to have great handling on both the street and track.

The Veloster N achieves this because it’s equipped with the N Power Sense Axle design. Because of this design, the Veloster N has more precise steering. Moreover, the Veloster N has suspension tuning that is electronically controlled, and the load transfer control system can be switched from “comfort” to “track.” The Veloster N also features a large braking system. The most recognized aspect of the Veloster N is the high performance offered through its 2.0-liter turbo engine.

The (hypothetical) Veloster N Palisade

Hyundai has a warped sense of humor, but the Veloster N Palisade is a great idea. Currently, the Palisade only has one powertrain option of a 291-hp 3.8-liter V6 – also used in the Kia Telluride. Giving the Palisade the “N” designation would mean that it would be more likely to use the Genesis GV80s with more output, according to Car and Driver.

There’s a lot that the “N” moniker can offer the Palisade – most notably in terms of increasing its performance. It’s not clear what this car would look like, but it’s likely to pack a punch and please auto enthusiasts everywhere who want an emphasis on speed, control, and ultimately, fun and performance.

Right now, the Hyundai Palisade N doesn’t exist. But it could, and we’d welcome it with open arms.
