Ford’s Super Duty truck models are for when the F-150 just won’t cut it. This striking lineup showcases the legendary automaker’s power and capability, with each trim more extravagant than the next.  As you’re looking to pick your next pickup, here’s what you need to know about two of 2020’’s most popular options: the Super Duty F-250 and F-350.

The 2020 Super Duty lineup has a stronger performance 

Both the F-250 and F-350 come standard with a 6.2-liter V-8 engine which contributes to a 385-horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. What’s great about this truck lineup is that you can further customize the model you pick with the available engine of your choice.

The biggest news about Ford’s Super Duty lineup was the introduction of the new, more forceful  7.3-liter gas V8 engine with 10-speed automatic transmission. This option generates a 430-horsepower and has a 475 lb-ft of torque. For even more power, there’s also the astounding 6.7-liter V-8 engine with a 475-horsepower which has a class-leading 1050 lb-ft of torque.

If you’re stuck between choosing the F-250 or the F-350, the biggest difference between the two as you can imagine is the towing capacity. When configured properly, the F-250 can pull a max of around 18,500 lbs. The F-350 maxes out at around 37,000 lbs.

Additional performance options include four-wheel-drive and the off-road package which can really take your truck to the next level. 

Comfort features galore at a high cost 

Pickup trucks create a ton of excitement because of the seemingly endless customization options. The Super Duty lineup’s variety doesn’t stop at the engine offerings. There are six different trim levels available. Customizing these trucks gets pretty expensive, pretty fast though. Go for the standard XL trim on the F-250, and that alone starts at $33,705. The XL trim doesn’t even include a suite of advanced driver-assist features or much infotainment. 

The top-of-the-line Limited trim offers the most excessive elements and it should for the price tag. The Limited F-250 starts at $83,600 and the Limited F-350 starts at $84,775, with one of the fanciest aspects being the massaging seats. 

For a good balance between practicality and luxury, we would recommend the Lariat trim which starts at $46,600 for the F-250 and $48,120 for the F-350.To keep things from getting out of hand, remember that you have plenty of configuration options outside of the trim levels.

Some drawbacks to think about

Aside from the fact that the Super Duty lineup can get extremely pricey and doesn’t give anything as a bargain, there are additional drawbacks to consider. The Super Duty trucks are very tall, even for the class range, so make sure you feel comfortable getting in and out of the cabin.

Also, with great power comes a great need for fuel. This truck lineup is not associated with fuel-efficiency by any means. This is to be expected though with super heavy-duty trucks. Before you make your decision on this lineup, reevaluate all your needs and must-haves too!
