The 2021 Ford F-150 XL and XLT are anything but plain

To help you decide which list of options works best for your situation, it’s best to understand what comes with the basics. And there is nothing plain about the F-150’s XL and XLT trims. Expect a robust menu of standards, including an eight-inch touchscreen, Sync 3 infotainment, and mobile connectivity. Safety is covered too, with emergency braking and pedestrian detection, along with auto high-beam headlights. Dynamic Hitch Assist is formatted with the rearview camera display, as well, making backing up to a trailer a breeze.

The reviews suggest the XLT is a better choice because of the host of packages available at that level. Buyers can upgrade to a 12-inch touchscreen and upgrade to an eight-speaker sound system, for example. It’s entirely possible to create the truck you want with all the features and extras you need for $30,000 to $40,000.

Getting fancy with the Lariat

Bump up those former XLT extras to standards at the Lariat level and open up a new roster of packages and options. For those who need premium level touchpoints, the Lariat is a great start. More exciting at this level is the available Ford Active Drive Assist system. This platform offers hands-free driving assist extras like adaptive cruise, interior cameras that monitor the driver’s eye gaze and head position, as well as lane-centering technology. It’s estimated the Lariat trim will start at $43,000.

The King Ranch is still king

If high-end is your preference, the King Ranch is still the king. Ford loads up this version with all bells and whistles, and more available options to customize your truck perfectly. It may feel like you’re driving a Lincoln instead of a Ford with its plushy interior touchpoints and cabin feels. One of the most notable adds at this level is the Max Recline Seats option, which allows the seats to recline nearly 180-degrees, ideal for a quick nap. Don’t expect to take home a King Ranch for less than $53,000.

Going Platinum versus Limited

If the Ford F-150 King Ranch isn’t fancy enough, then it’s time to consider the Platinum and Limited trims. Both bring all the best must-have features at lower levels, including those Max Recline seats, and a whole lot more. Some reviews suggest the Platinum may be the best F-150 money can buy. But, in case you need more luxurious extras, the Limited trim is what most would consider absolute royalty in a pickup. At this level, consumers can expect $60,000 to $70,000 price tags, depending on the customization preferences selected.
