What’s New With the 2022 Honda Pilot?
What’s new with the 2022 Honda Pilot? The popular SUV received a few upgrades for the new model year. A few of the changes are from a difference in trim levels. Some trims have been completely dropped from the lineup, making the base model a bit more expensive. Will the new features make the 2022 Pilot worth a little extra cash?
The 2022 Honda Pilot trim levels are changing
The 2022 Honda Pilot is doing away with its bottom LX and EX trim levels for the new model year. The two lowest trims disappear, and the Sport becomes the base model. Unfortunately, the price doesn’t drop for the Sport model, so a base Honda Pilot is now more expensive. To be more precise, the Sport starts at $36,830 compared to the previous LX base model, which started at $32,550.
Luckily since the Sport model became the base, the value is still there. You’re paying all that extra money for the base model but look at it as if the bottom trim got a whole lot better. This change puts the entire lineup of Honda Pilot trims much closer to one another for their starting prices. Of course, with plenty of available options, they can get much higher.
What’s new for 2022?
The 2022 Honda Pilot now comes with more standard features than ever before. Most significantly, this includes an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The touchscreen and software capability was available on previous models but came at an additional cost. Now every Honda Pilot model will come equipped with these convenient features.
In addition, every Pilot now comes with full LED headlights. Brightening up the dark road at night is extremely important, especially for those with families on board. Since the Pilot is a family SUV, it’s only fitting that the lights shine a little brighter. These LED headlights being standard means drivers and passengers will be safer than ever before.
New 2022 Honda Pilot paint color and Trailsport trim
According to CarAndDriver, a never-before-seen paint color is available on the Honda Pilot for the 2022 model year. The Gray Pearl paint color is joining the lineup for the first time, and it is, well, gray. The color isn’t available on the two bottom trim levels when building a Pilot on Honda’s website. It seems to only be available on the Touring trim or higher.
Honda has also claimed that it will announce a new model later this year. That comes in the form of the Trailsport off-road-focused trim level. Like many other automakers these days, they’re implementing off-road models across most vehicles in their respective lineups—the Trailsport model slots in between the EX-L and Touring trims.
The 2022 Honda Pilot made a lot of changes for the incoming model year. Unfortunately, it got a lot more expensive, but the automaker tried to make it worth your while. Buying a Honda Pilot means it will come well-equipped, regardless of trim level, in 2022. Even the least expensive model comes with luxurious technology features, and who wouldn’t love that?
