According to Car and Driver, the 2023 BMW X7 got a mid-cycle refresh. As a result, the new model year has many minor tweaks and design changes. For example, a new dashboard design, a different front end, more standard features, and newly available 23-inch rims. However, the X7 also has a new list of powertrain options. Together, these changes combine to make the 2023 X7 entirely different from the 2022 version. Most prominently, we’re excited by the new features and powertrain changes for the luxury three-row SUV.

X7 new standard features

First, C/D says the X7 has more standard features than ever before. This includes a few pieces of diver-assistance technology. Edmunds lists standard features for the xDrive40i model as the following: self-leveling air suspension, 21-inch wheels, adaptive LED headlights, roof rails, power dual-section tailgate, remote start, panoramic sunroof, four-zone automatic climate control, remote vehicle monitoring via a smartphone app, simulated leather upholstery, multi-contour heated front seats, heated front armrests, and a heated steering wheel.

Next, customizable ambient cabin lighting, a digital gauge cluster, a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, a head-up display, a navigation system, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a wireless device charger, and a 10-speaker sound system are included.

Finally, every 2023 BMW X7 comes well-equipped with driver assistance technology. These features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic high beams.

A new 2023 BMW X7 powertrain lineup

The 2023 BMW X7 uses a standard turbocharged V6 making 375 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. Each of these numbers is higher than the previous model year, which outputs 335 hp and 331 lb-ft. Next, the V8 powertrain is no longer called the M50i but the M60i instead. It’s now paired with a new twin-turbo 4.4-liter and 48-volt hybrid system that make for better efficiency. Finally, the top of the lineup uses an even more powerful engine. It’s a 630 horsepower option, which is 18 higher than the previous model year version.

What will be different with the 2023 BMW X7?

The most obvious difference with the BMW three-row SUV is the design changes. A different body style tends to change the entire look of the vehicle and will help it stand out from other X7 models. However, the 2023 BMW X7 also gained new standard features, new driver assistance features, and upgrades to its few powertrain options.
