Lexus isn’t messing with its flagship SUV. The big seven-seat SUV that got a complete re-do for 2022 gets a few standard features and trims for 2023. But, the big Lexus LX 600 doesn’t need much to stay up to date. Regardless, what’s new for Lexus’ super SUV, the LX 600, in 2023?

For 2023, the big Lexus LX 600 gets just a few minor updates.

The LX 600 is Lexus’s biggest SUV. The list of features and options Lexus has for the LX 600 SUV can blow your mind. Consider that you can get this seven-seater in an ultra-luxury four-seat trim that turns the back into a spacious lounger bigger than some NYC studio apartments, with 43 inches of back seat foot room. There’s so much foot room that Lexus even adds a deployable footrest behind the passenger seat.

So, when you consider that Lexus did all it could to improve the LX for 2022, it’s no surprise that the options the company is adding for 2023 is limited. This year, the heated steering wheel becomes standard. That Ultra-Luxury trim gets a new Takanoha wood trim. There’ s new Green Pearl paint and the rear seat entertainment screens get covers.

The LX 600 is a Land Cruiser disguised as a luxury SUV

The 2023 LX 600 stays on the GA-F platform, which means that it shares a lot of its chassis with the Toyota Sequoia and new Toyota Tundra. But, crucially, it also shares several key parts with the Toyota Land Cruiser that the rest of the world, but not the U.S., gets. That means that it gets a suspension that is specially designed for both on-road and substantial off-road capability.

Of course the Lexus has a giant flowing Lexus grille and low overhangs on the front that limit some of that off-road ability. Regardless, it does have Toyota’s magic Crawl Control, which can get even this huge SUV un-buried from sand or mud. It’s so good, Toyota created an overlander concept for SEMA this year.

However, the LX 600 did lose the old V8. We’re not shedding a tear over the loss of that fuel sucker, and neither is Road and Track, which praised the engine. Also, the new twin-turbo V6 makes a stout 409 horsepower as well as 479 .b-ft of torque, which is plenty to get this beast rolling. It’s also paired with a 10-speed automatic that helps it stay in the powerband longer.

How much is a 2023 Lexus LX 600?

The new LX 600 ranks at the top of the Lexus SV lineup, and the prices reflect that. The base LX 600 starts at $89,160. The F Sport Handling version starts at $104,370, and the top dog LX 600 Ultra Luxury is a mind boggling $129,250. New 2023 versions of the LX 600 should start showing up at dealers by the end of 2022, according to Lexus.
