What’s New With the 2022 Dodge Durango?
Before it goes away forever, are you wondering what’s new about the 2022 Dodge Durango? They say the night is always darkest before the dawn but is it also the brightest before nighttime? We don’t think so, but we know that Dodge has improved it for the new model year despite killing the Durango. Although, it returns for the new model year without its SRT Hellcat option. The 2022 Durango gains a bunch of excellent new features you’ll want in your next SUV.
The 2022 Dodge Durango adds more features
A few new welcomed changes come to the Dodge Durango for the new model year. Firstly, the third row of seats is now standard across every trim level. Previously, only specific packages or trims would come with a third row of seats. That is no longer the case making the Durango a healthy option for anyone seeking a three-row SUV.
The base model SXT now comes with new features like blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, roof rails, and more. Second lowest to only the SXT, the GT trim gains remote start, heated front seats and steering wheel, and a power rear liftgate. In addition, GT Plus now comes with driver memory settings, rain-sensing wipers, heated rear seats, and more. The highest trim level, R/T Plus, gained Nappa leather with contrast stitching, a sunroof, a Harmon/Kardon stereo system, and more for the new year.
The Durango SRT Hellcat is missing
The 2022 Dodge Durango has added plenty of new features throughout its lineup. However, we can’t help but notice that it seems like something significant is missing. That’s right; the automaker has discontinued the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat. As of June 2021, production of the powerful SUV ultimately ended, CEO Tim Kuniskis told HotCars.
As with many other Dodge models, the SRT Hellcat is gone. Only three Dodge models are still in production today, the Durango, Charger, and Challenger. This legendary Durango model is discontinued for the same reason as all the others; To make room for the plethora of electric vehicles coming soon. We hope that some form of Hellcat engine is in the works and that maybe it’ll fit into an electric Dodge Durango.
How much does a 2022 Dodge Durango cost?
As with every new model year, the prices change for vehicles across the board. Usually, it’s because they’ve received many upgrades to help sell more units, as is the case for the Durango. Standard features have certainly improved for the new model year. Where do all these upgrades leave the price?
2022 Dodge Durango Trim | Starting Price |
SXT | $37,070 |
GT | $40,070 |
GT Plus | $44,170 |
R/T | $49,220 |
Citadel | $51,420 |
R/T Plus | $55,095 |
Even though the Dodge Durango will go away in the next few years, the most recent addition is a great one. The new features sweep through the lineup and come at an affordable price. Though the absence of the SRT Hellcat makes everyone sad, we are hopeful it can return in some form eventually. The 2022 Dodge Durango isn’t available yet but will be available for reservations closer to the end of the year.
