What’s New With the 2022 Ram 1500 Pickup Truck?
The 2022 Ram 1500 pickup truck has been near the top of the segment for a long time. In a constant battle with the Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, and more, it’s recently established itself as one of, if not the best. For the brand new model year, it’s gained new packages, features, and more. As with anything new and improved, it’ll cost you a little extra this year, too.
The 2022 Ram 1500 is off-road ready
For the newest model year, the Ram pickup truck gained upgrades to its off-road capability. The BackCountry Edition is an off-road package for the Big Horn and Lone Star models. The package includes 18-inch black wheels, black badging, exhaust tips, mirrors, headlamp bezels, and running boards. Additionally, the BackCountry Edition models will have black two-tone exterior paint.
Luckily, the Big Horn and Lone Star models are two of the most affordable trim options. The Ram 1500 pickup truck offers two more affordable options but four more expensive ones. The Lone Star and Big Horn trim levels both start at just $40,995.
The G/T package is now available
The 2022 Ram 1500 pickup truck’s G/T package is a sporty optional add-on package for the Laramie and Rebel models. It adds a cold-air intake, unique exhaust system, paddle shifters, and a console-mounted shifter. The package is meant to accentuate the power of the Ram pickup truck, making it sound a little meaner and be a little more fun to drive.
2022 Ram 1500 Limited 10th Anniversary Edition
New to the 2022 model year lineup, the Ram pickup truck gets the Limited 10th Anniversary Edition model. It’s an even more upscale version of the already luxurious Limited trim level. The Anniversary Edition offers high-quality interior materials and premium exclusive quilted leather on the seats and door inserts. In addition, the Ram 1500 gains a new suede headliner that extends to the A-pillar and flip-down visors.
The interior receives an exclusive Indigo and Sea Salt Grey color scheme accented with Aluminum Litho bezels. It’s not only material and color changes; the Anniversary Edition also gains a 19-speaker premium sound system, a multifunction tailgate, a Mopar center-mounted bed step, and adjustable cargo tie-down hooks. The pickup truck can come with either a 5.7-liter V8 or a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel.
Does the Ram 1500 TRX make the Rebel irrelevant?
Thanks to the 2022 Ram 1500 TRX, the Rebel is now completely irrelevant. OK, it isn’t wholly irrelevant since it costs $30,000 less. However, other than the price tag, there is no reason to buy a Rebel over the TRX. The 702 horsepower Raptor-rival is immediately not only one of the most incredible pickup trucks on the market, but it’s also lightning-fast. It does just about everything the Rebel does except a whole lot better.
The catch is that it costs upwards of $75,000, and the Ignition Edition is even more expensive, starting at $93,280. That price tag alone makes the Rebel worth a second look. It starts at just $49,935 and offers loads of the same features as the TRX but a much smaller scale. With an available V8 engine, 4WD, air suspension, and even a 33-gallon fuel tank, the Ram 1500 Rebel is a much more affordable off-road driving alternative.
Overall, the 2022 Ram 1500 is still one of the best available full-size pickup trucks on the market. According to CarAndDriver, it didn’t receive a complete overhaul or redesign this year but added some attractive packages. The BackCountry, G/T, and 10th Anniversary Edition models are all unique and will set your Ram 1500 apart from other models. From the interior accessories right down to the extra badges, these packages are suitable for you if you want your Ram pickup truck to be different.
