The 2023 Cadillac XT5 got a few new upgrades and changes for its new model year. The XT5 is one of the most popular luxury SUV models, but it needs to continue to impress. The updates have been less than exciting for recent model years, to say the least. Although the 2023 model year isn’t much different, it’s an improvement. Here’s everything new with the 2023 Cadillac XT5, like new colors and equipment.

New colors and standard equipment

According to Cars.com, the 2023 Cadillac XT5 now has three new exterior paint colors. They are Argent Silver Metallic, Opulent Blue Metallic, and Radiant Red Tintcoat. Further, the automaker added a compact spare tire to all trim levels as standard equipment, which is difficult to complain about. Although the interior and exterior design carry over from the previous model year, there’s some new equipment. For example, the Premium Luxury and Sport trims now have the Cadillac User Experience infotainment system bundled with navigation as standard equipment.

The only other significant change to the XT5 for 2023 comes with pricing.

Like most automakers, Cadillac bumped up the price of the XT5 for the new model year. Now, the base model starts at $45,540 with a $1,395 destination charge. Furthermore, the Luxury trim is the lowest of the bunch, followed by the Premium Luxury and Sport trims. The two more costly models are $51,340 and $58,440, respectively. As a result, it’s clear the Luxury trim is much more attainable to the average person. Fortunately, it comes packed with standard equipment that make even the lone sub-$50,000 XT5 feel like a luxurious Cadillac.

Engine and drivetrain options have not changed since the previous model year. The Luxury base model uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine good for 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The Premium Luxury uses the same engine, and both have standard front-wheel drive. However, customers can upgrade either model with all-wheel drive for an additional $2,000. Alternatively, the Sport trim uses a 3.6-liter V6 engine with an output of 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive is standard on the Sport model of the luxury SUV.

2023 Cadillac XT5 standard features

According to Edmunds, the cheapest version of the 2023 Cadillac XT5 is well-equipped. Standard features include 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, heated exterior mirrors, a power liftgate, remote engine start, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, simulated leather upholstery, power-adjustable and heated front seats, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and an eight-speaker Bose audio system. Lastly, a few driver assistance features are also standard. They include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure mitigation, and front/rear parking sensors.

Moving up over the $50K threshold greatly increases the number of features. For example, the XT5 Premium Luxury model gets luxurious amenities like a panoramic sunroof, a hands-free liftgate, a heated steering wheel, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and a 14-speaker Bose audio system. The Sport model isn’t quite as feature-filled as the lower trim but adds “sportier” equipment. For example, a sport-tuned AWD system, a sport suspension with adaptive dampers, an upgraded Brembo brake system, and a heavy-duty cooling system.

What’s new for the luxury SUV?

In conclusion, not much has changed for the 2023 Cadillac XT5 in the new model year. A few new standard features and a couple of additional exterior paint colors are the only differences between 2023 and the 2022 model. As a result, the higher price isn’t worth paying if you’re able to get your hands on a new 2022 model. Engine, drivetrain setups, and more are all identical to previous model years. Fortunately, the same luxurious set of standard equipment remains the highlight of the XT5 luxury SUV lineup.
