The Toyota 4Runner 2020 is a popular vehicle, no doubt. It’s one that purely defines the sports utility vehicle. This year, the SUV comes in an exciting new color: army green.

How much do they cost?

The 2020 Toyota 4Runner SR5 starts at $36,120. Then the price point increases depending on which 4Runner you choose. There is the next-up SR5 Premium starting at $39,315. After that, there are the TRD Off-Road and Off-Road Premium, ranging from a starting price from $39,840 to a starting price of $42,570.

Next are the Venture Special Edition, the Limited, the Nightshade Edition, and the TRD Pro. These prices range from the Venture Special Edition starting price of $44,385 to the TRD Pro starting at $49,865.

So, what’s not to like?

While its off-roading capabilities are appealing, and the multitude of options is nice, the new 4Runner is still leaving a little to be desired.

The interior needs a facelift.

Some are reporting an outdated interior that needs some improvement. The lackluster appearance of the 2020 4Runner’s interior is basic at best. Although the simplicity of its style may be a testament to its ability to function and perform, it’s a bit boring.

It might be time for a complete redesign of the Toyota 4Runner’s look. A nice modern upgrade. It’s doubtful that anyone would be against a style overhaul before the release of a new generation.

It’s a bumpy ride.

The 2020 Toyota 4Runner is all utility and zero glamour. For some, this may be a great reason to remain loyal to the 4Runner. Other 4Runner fans enjoy a little rugged luxury. It would be nice to have the amazing capabilities of a TRD Pro, in addition to a smooth ride.

Many 4Runner lovers love the classic body-on-frame style of the 2020 Toyota 4Runner. A more comfortable commute couldn’t hurt, though. A few tweaks could really help the clunky 2020 4Runner.

Poor fuel economy.

The 2020 Toyota 4Runner may be an off-roading beast, but you won’t be going far into the backcountry without spending some cash on fuel. The all-new 4Runner gets 16 mpg on city streets and 19 mpg on the highway.

A few more miles to the gallon would be one of the most beneficial upgrades the 2020 model could receive. Hopefully, we will see an improvement here on future models.

It hasn’t really changed.

Since the release of the 2010 Toyota 4Runner, the body style of this off-roading machine hasn’t changed much. Excluding a few tweaks here and there, the 2020 Toyota 4Runner remains incredibly similar to the 2010 model in appearance. Over the last decade, there have been some modifications.

In 2013, some minor cosmetic changes were made to the exterior. The interior was updated as well, with new soft leather trim and a more modern dash view.

Toyota has continued to improve the safety and utility of the vehicle, but the 5th generation Toyota 4Runner has generally remained unchanged. After ten years, it is time to start thinking about the reveal of a new generation of the SUV.

Within more recent years, the engine has also stayed the same. The 2020 Toyota 4Runner has the exact same powertrain as the 2019 models. It may hold true to the “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” mentality. The previous models performed well and did their job. Why change something when it’s working great? The future, that’s why.

To love or not to love?

The reason it’s barely been altered in the last ten years is that the model is well-loved. The Toyota 4Runner has always had a healthy fan base. Maybe people are starting to get excited about the prospect of a more modern new generation. Still, this doesn’t mean the 2020 4Runner isn’t loved.

Especially with the debut of the awesome army green edition, the 2020 4Runner delivers just enough to keep its title as one of the most loved SUVs on the road today. Although there are a few things not to love about the 2020 Toyota 4Runner, it’s still pretty awesome.
