What’s So Great About Honda SUVs?
The success of SUVs like the Honda CR-V, Honda Passport, and the Honda Pilot continues to create a legacy for the Honda name. Honda is certainly one of the best carmakers in the business. But the SUV segment is so huge, and there are so many other great ones out there. So what’s so great about Honda SUVs?
The Honda CR-V
OK, so we have to get this right out of the way. The Honda CR-V is one of the best crossover SUVs on the market. In the 2020 model year alone, the 2020 Honda CR-V won both the Compact SUV Best Buy Award from Kelly Blue Book and the Best Compact SUV for the Money Award form U.S. News and World Report.
It’s been around a long time. In fact, it’s quite common to see a CR-V from10––or even 20–years ago driving on roads today. First seen on the US market in 1997, the Honda CR-V is built on a Honda Civic platform with an SUV body style. It’s also been offered with AWD since the beginning. New or used, the Honda CR-V is recommended for families that want a good reliable crossover with plenty of cargo space.
The Honda Pilot
The Honda Pilot is another popular crossover SUV from the Japanese automaker. It’s a spacious three-row SUV for families with several options. Though it’s sometimes docked for its higher price compared to some others, the Honda Pilot is a solid choice.
In 2020, it got a Black Edition trim and in 2019, the Honda Pilot received a redesign to both its interior and exterior. All models now come with Honda’s safety suite as standard equipment. The 2020 Pilot earned a five-star safety rating from the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
First introduced and aimed at the North American market in 2002, the Honda Pilot is another Honda crossover SUV that’s not sparse on the roads. New models and decade-old models grace American highways every day. The Honda Pilot shares a platform with the Honda Odyssey and its luxury counterpart, the Acura MDX.
The Passport’s no slouch
The Honda Passport is newer to the Honda crossover SUV lineup. This one fits right between the CR-V and the Pilot. Though its name was originally part of a joining between Isuzu and Honda in the 1990s, the Honda Passport was newly introduced as a two-row family SUV in 2018.
It’s a newer installment, yes. But it’s already on the list of decorated Honda SUVs. It’s no slouch.
This year, the Honda Passport won the U.S. New and World Report award for the Best Two-row SUV for Families. In addition, the 2020 Passport earned a five-star safety rating from the NHTSA. Plus, the 2019 model also made the top 10 list for the Cars.com American-Made Index.
The entire SUV lineup
The lineup of SUVs has an option that appeals to most. Honda has a reputation for reliable vehicles packed with value. Plus, the brand’s history for performance and longevity extends to its crossover SUVs.
Even the Honda HR-V won an award for the U.S. News and World Report 2019 Best New SUV for Teens. Cars like the Civic and the Accord are certainly legends in their own right. However, it’s not just Hondas cars that are winning in the industry. Honda SUVs have made a name for themselves by pleasing both families and critics year after year.
