What’s Subaru’s Best-Selling Model?
If adventure and practicality are what you want in a vehicle, Subaru likely has an answer for you. Subarus shine on- and off-road. But what’s Subaru’s best-selling model?
Subaru’s best-seller
This probably won’t surprise many people, but Subaru’s best-selling model in 2020 is the Forester. The Forester is one of the most compelling compact SUVs because of its affordable price point and numerous standard features. Even through the ongoing pandemic, Subaru says that the Forester has continued to be a shining star in its lineup. Last year was the best year ever for the Forester with an all-time record of 180,179 unit sales.
About the 2020 Subaru Forester
The 2020 Forester has something for everybody. According to Car and Driver, there were 85,860 Foresters sold by the third-quarter of 2020. These figures make the Forester one of the best-selling models of the year.
The Forester is a comfortable ride for everyday driving, and it’s suitable for moderate off-road adventures. And even though it’s standard with all-wheel-drive, the Forester impresses with its fuel economy. The 2020 model has an EPA rating of 29 mpg, one of the best ratings in its class.
Each Forester features a 182-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a continuously variable automatic transmission. In addition to its smooth ride quality, the Forester also offers many creature comforts on the inside. Connectivity apps, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, are standard. It also comes with Subaru’s Eyesight driver assist technology.
The Subaru Outback comes in second
In 2019, the Outback was Subaru’s top seller, with 181,178 units sold. Subaru’s sales for the Outback are down by about 13 percent compared to this time last year. By Q3, there were 62,305 Outback models sold. However, these figures are impressive, considering sales for the Outback were down by 34 percent for the first half of the year, says Car and Driver.
As we’ve said before, the Subaru Outback dominates the competition because it doesn’t have any. The Outback uniquely blends the capabilities of a station wagon and a midsize SUV. This Subie can hold its own against wagon rivals like the Audi A4 Allroad but can also compete in the same realm as Kia Telluride and Ford Edge.
Subaru completely redesigned the Outback for 2020, and it begins at $26,645. Like the Forester, the Outback comes with a 182-hp four-cylinder. But if it’s more power you crave, the Outback has an optional 2.4-liter turbocharged engine that makes 260-hp. This turbo-four makes the Outback more fun to drive, but it’s considerably more expensive than the base model.
Also, like the Foresters, critics and consumers appreciate the Outback for its smoothness and decent off-road skills. The Outback is ideal for buyers who want a little more space than the Forester provides. This wagon is also a good choice if you want a more luxury-focused vehicle. Subaru loaded the Outback with smartphone connectivity apps and helpful driver-assist features.
