What’s the Buzz With the Kia Stinger Tribute Edition?
Enthusiasts must wave a tearful goodbye to Kia’s midsize sports sedan, the Stinger. For seven model years, it warmed the hearts of those who sought a blend of quickness and practicality and didn’t want to buy German or Japanese. The 2024 model year will be the end, but the company is sending off the fast four-door that “bows out” with exclusivity. The Kia Stinger Tribute Edition is limited to 440 units in the U.S. out of just 1,000 worldwide.
2024 Kia Stinger Tribute Edition performance specs
Kia’s last hoorah for the Stinger will employ the company’s GT2 package. Under the hood, a twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 produces 368 horsepower and 376 pounds-feet of torque. Power is sent through an eight-speed paddle-shifted automatic transmission to the rear wheels. Luckily, all-wheel drive is available as an optional extra.
For the Tribute Edition, the powertrain will be left completely stock. And there are no real performance upgrades than what is seen on the already impressive Stinger GT2. Yet, it was already rather quick. Car and Driver’s 0 to 60 mph test showed a time of just 4.6 seconds.
Interior upgrades
According to a Kia press release, the interior of Tribute Edition is bathed in Terracotta Nappa leather-trimmed seats with the logo emblazoned on the headrests. And there’s a myriad of other exquisite materials. For instance, a synthetic suede headliner and simulated carbon fiber interior trim.
Otherwise, each Stinger Tribute Edition sedan will stand out further with individual numbers. All 1,000 made will have their production number on the sill plate. Yet, due to the different build dates for each vehicle, Kia says the U.S. may not get the first consecutive 440.
Exclusive paint color for the Kia Stinger Tribute Edition
Besides numbered vehicles and a few other minor interior specs, the Kia Stinger Tribute Edition will gain model-exclusive 19-inch alloys, blackened exhaust tips, and side mirrors. But the Tribute Edition gains bespoke paint. The 1,000 cars will feature either “Ascot Green” or a newly available “Steel Matte Gray.”
How much is the Kia Stinger Tribute Edition?
Standard Stinger GT2s have a starting MSRP of $51,890 without the destination fees included. The rear-wheel drive Kia Stinger Tribute Edition comes in at $53,390, and all-wheel drive variants are $55,590. Moreover, the destination charge is another $1,175.
Kia America’s Vice President of Sales, Eric Watson, indicates that potential buyers will be tripping over themselves to obtain the final Stinger. He explained, “Along with hand raisers who have expressed interest in the iconic sport sedan, we anticipate this customer base will flock to dealers to snag the last of the Stingers.”
Overall, the Kia Stinger is a compelling option for anyone in the market for a midsize sporty four-door car. It offers a winning combination of style, performance, and technology features, making it a standout in its class. Although it’ll be missed as Kia’s most lively sedan, it will at least go out in style.
