What’s the Classic Car in The ‘Uncharted’ Movie?
Sony’s 2022 Uncharted movie, based on its video game series of the same name, is finally on streaming services. Like the games, this Tom Holland/Mark Whalberg film is full of globetrotting and treasure hunting. One relatively new artifact that kept popping up in the film was villain Santiago Moncado’s (Antonio Banderas) red sports car. Moncado’s prized possession is a 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL “Gullwing” and it was one of several unique vehicles to star in the film.

One of the villains of 2022’s Uncharted film was Antonio Banderas’ Santiago Moncado. He owns a memorable 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL “Gullwing” sports car. This nearly priceless classic appears in several scenes throughout the film, including the climactic cargo plane scene.
In the film, the Mercedes-Benz is a fitting heirloom inherited by Santiago Moncado, heir of the ancient family still referred to as the “House of Moncada.”
What ‘Uncharted’ movie scenes does the 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL appear in?
Santiago Moncado uses his vast wealth to travel around the world in a huge cargo plane, seemingly taking his Mercedes Gullwing with him everywhere he goes. It appears in Manhattan, Barcelona, and even in the sky above the Philippines. See it in an Uncharted scene in the video below:
Moncado and his car make their first appearance in the Uncharted film when he pulls up to an antique auction in New York City. Then, he flies his Mercedes Gullwing back to his home in Barcelona in the film’s second act. Finally, he has his cronies load his classic car on his cargo plane before flying to the Philippines in search of a lost treasure.
When someone asks him about the car, Santiago says, “My father gave me this car when I turned eighteen. It’s been my good luck charm ever since.”
[Spoiler Alert] The car is pivotal to one of the film’s most memorable set pieces. To escape the bad guys, Chloe Frazer (Sophia Ali) hops in the car and drives it out of the plane’s open cargo door, accidentally striking Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) and sending him flying into the sky as well.
What Hyundai SUV does Chloe Frazer drive in ‘Uncharted?’
Uncharted fans might be confused by the off-road-ready SUV Chloe Frazer drives in the 2022 film. It looks like nothing else on the road because it is a custom-built Hyundai Tucson dubbed the “Beast.” It is one of several Hyundais advertised in the film.
Hyundai is launching a new line of factory-built 4x4s. These include the Hyundai Tucson XRT and the Kia Telluride X-Pro. To build buzz for its new off-roaders, Hyundai teamed up with the filmmakers behind the Uncharted movie.
The 2022 Uncharted film features the Hyundai Tucson “Beast” Chloe Frazer drives. It also features Genesis GV80s and Genesis G90 that the bad guys drive. Finally, the new film features a chauffeured Genesis G80 that Victor Sullivan (Mark Whalberg) and Nathan Drake (Tom Hiddleston) rent.
