Subaru makes a lot of great cars, and Subaru fans are as dedicated to their Subies as Ford fans are dedicated to their Fords. The Subaru Outback is one of the more popular and iconic models, and the 2021 Subaru Outback is coming soon. Here’s a look at everything you need to know about the 2021 Subaru Outback. 

What’s new with the 2021 Subaru Outback 

As Motor1 reported, Subaru has used a light hand in terms of upgrading the Outback for the 2021 model year. One of those minor upgrades is the fact that the 2021 Outback will have new standard safety features on all trim levels.

That said, since the Outback already had a lot of standard safety features, these new standard safety features simply improve how safe the Outback will be.

For example, Motor1 wrote that the 2021 Outback will now have cornering LED headlights as standard, which means that the headlights will respond to the car as it’s steering.

In addition to that, the 2021 Outback will also have a standard passenger seat belt reminder system and a standard rear-seat reminder system. While rear-seat reminder systems are not perfect, they may help parents and caretakers avoid hot car deaths.  

Additionally, Planet Subaru wrote that the 2021 Outback will also have a few minor upgrades in its interior and under the hood. For example, the 2021 Outback’s standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine now gets 182 hp, which is slightly more powerful than before.

The 2021 Outback will also have new options, such as a hands-free power gate and even a non-leather washable interior for vegan Subaru fans.

On top of those new features, the 2021 Outback is still a great Subie that Subaru fans will love. Car and Driver said that the 2021 Outback will have a dual 7-inch touch screen infotainment system as standard. Additionally, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard on the 2021 Outback.

For Subaru fans who can spend more on their cars, Subaru still offers plenty of features to add to the 2021 Outback. For example, Subaru fans who don’t think that their Outback is safe enough can opt to equip their Subie with a blind spot detection system and a rear cross-traffic alert system. 

Other than safety, Subaru also offers options that’ll spruce up the interior of the Outback. For example, customers can add a moonroof to their Outback or a navigational system. All of these options are either packages or trim levels, and they of course will increase the price of the 2021 Outback.

How much will the 2021 Subaru Outback cost and when it’ll come to dealerships

According to Motor1, the standard 2021 Outback will cost about $26,795, and that’s a $150 price increase from the 2020 Outback. That said, when destination and delivery charges are added onto the Outback’s actual price, customers can expect to pay about $27,845 for their new Outback.

Obviously, the six different trims that Subaru offers on the Outback will increase that price tag. Motor1 said that the cheapest trim is the Premium trim, and it starts at about $29,000, or $30,000 when destination and delivery charges are added onto it.

The most expensive Outback trim is the Touring XT trim, and that starts at almost $40,000, or $41,000 when destination and delivery charges are added.

The prices for options will also vary. For example, the Premium trim has two option packages, with one costing $1,400 and the other costing $3,000. No matter what trims and packages customers want, the 2021 Outback will be available at Subaru dealerships in October 2020, according to Motor1.
