Ram killed the diesel in its smaller Ram 1500 trucks for 2023, but the Cummins Turbo Diesel lives on in the big trucks. The Cummins continues to put out mind-blowing torque figures for towing and in 2023 it puts out an astounding 1,075 lb-ft of torque. That means that with the right towing package, the Ram heavy-duty trucks can tow 37,090 pounds in the 2500 version, or up to 20,000 in the 2500 version.
Of course, fans of gasoline powered engines can order the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 that for 2023 makes 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. You can also forget about any range anxiety with these trucks. You can also order a massive 50-gallon tank on the 2023 Ram 3500 Crew Cab.
Will the 2023 Ram get an Allision transmission?
For 2023 the Ram 2500 diesel trucks come with Ram’s old-school 68RFE six-speed transmission. GM’s trucks, the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD and the GMC Sierra HD come with a much more modern Allision 10-speed transmission. For 2023, Ford’s newly updated Super Duty trucks also get a new 10-speed transmission. However, Ram issued a recent recall due to overheating issues with the 689RFE, according to TFL Truck.
