In 2022, there are only a few remaining minivans available to buy new. If you’re not interested in the Kia Carnival, Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey, or Chrysler Pacifica, you’re out of luck. Back in the day, a few other automakers played the minivan game. One of those was Nissan, which offered the Nissan Quest for many years. However, it disappeared long ago without a trace. When was the Nissan Quest minivan discontinued?

If you’re interested in buying a Nissan Quest, you won’t find one for sale brand new. The minivan was discontinued following the 2016 model year. In its final year of sale, it possessed 22 combined mpg, a spacious interior, and a low starting price. Together, the Quest was a surprisingly good bargain buy for any minivan owner. Moreover, it had seating for up to seven passengers, a second-row center console, and an available DVD entertainment system.

Like modern minivan models, it was the perfect family vehicle, now replaced by SUVs. As the final model year, the 2016 Nissan Quest is the newest version one can buy used. According to KBB, that isn’t a particularly bad idea. Experts gave the final Quest model year 4.2 out of 5 stars and said it’s worth a look when shopping for a used minivan. Depending on mileage, our local dealers have a few for sale ranging from $13,000 to just below $20,000.

Is the Quest a good minivan?

KBB suggests the Nissan Quest is an excellent option for buyers seeking a minivan with a low starting price, roomy interior, and “distinctive exterior styling.” Although the Quest looks like a minivan, it stands out from competitors. Plus, even in 2016, it carried a surprising amount of convenient features. The 260-horsepower V6 engine is nothing to complain about either, as it provides power and excellent fuel economy for a vehicle of its size.

For 2016, the Quest offered a birds-eye-view camera system, a power-operated third-row seat and started cheaper than rivals. KBB calls it “roomy and versatile” and likes the power provided by the V6 engine. Additionally, the design stands out from the competition with its blocky looks, ditching the rounded curves found on most minivan models.

What is a modern Nissan Quest alternative?

According to Nissan, the 2022 Pathfinder is an excellent modern Quest alternative. The Pathfinder does it all if you’re looking for similar equipment, pricing, and performance with a spacious interior. Although it’s more expensive, the modern SUV is more luxurious than the Quest minivan. With the second-row bench seat, the Pathfinder sits up to eight passengers. However, opting for the captain’s chairs drops that number down to seven.

The Pathfinder is an excellent Quest alternative with a similar amount of space and more equipment. However, the minivan is much more affordable. A Pathfinder three-row SUV starts at $34,640, whereas the Quest’s starting price was around $27,000 during its final days. Unfortunately, three-row SUVs have taken over the minivan segment. However, more affordable minivan models like the Kia Carnival are still available, which begins at $32,900.

When did Nissan discontinue the Quest?

In conclusion, the Nissan Quest minivan was discontinued after the 2016 model year. Popular reviewers like KBB consider the model a viable used option. Although slightly outdated, the Quest remains affordable in the used market. Thankfully, it was slightly ahead of its time with some features, so the 2016 model year doesn’t seem too far behind.
