The current-generation Acura RDX has been out for over a year now and sales have been increasing since its debut for the 2019 model year. It’s new styling and features have curried favor with consumers and it has remained competitive among others in its segment. But if you’re looking for an RDX, you might be wondering which trim level is best. Let’s take a look.

Mono-trimmed

Fortunately, Acura value-packaged this generation of the RDX by making it a mono-trimmed model with a selection of packages depending on what features the buyers want on it. The packages include the A-Spec package, Technology, and Advance package.

Standard features

All Acura RDXs come with standard with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque and is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, however, Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system is available on all trim levels.

A few notable standard features include AcuraWatch, Acura’s suite of driver-assist features; a leather interior; a 12-way power driver seat; dual-zone auto climate control; Acura’s Premium Audio system with nine speakers; 19-inch wheels; and Apple Carplay/Android Auto. It’s well equipped, but the additional packages spruce things up a bit.

A-Spec package

The A-Spec package is the most distinct package as it adds dark gray 20-inch wheels, A-Spec front and rear numbers, black exterior trim, and dual-exhaust outlets. On the inside, the A-Spec package includes an exclusive black and red interior, however, an all-black interior is also available.

Technology package

The Technology package mainly adds, you guessed it, technological features. Most notably an upgraded Acura ELS sound system with 12 speakers, navigation, rear USB ports, front and rear parking sensors, and blind-spot detectors with rear-cross traffic alert.

Advance package

The Advance package builds on the Technology package by adding a more-premium Acura ELS Studio Premium sound system with 16 speakers, a surround-view camera, a head-up display, and nicer burl wood trim on the interior.

Pricing

The 2020 Acura RDX starts at $37,800 for the front-wheel-drive model and adding all-wheel drive will tack on an extra $2,000. The Technology package is an extra $3,200 and Advance package is priced at $4,900. Those wanting to exude a little more style can opt for the A-Spec package for $3,000. Which package is the best value?

Considering the 2020 Acura RDX comes so well-equipped in its base form, it’s easy to pick that trim and call it a day, and we wouldn’t fault anyone for that. However, if it were up to us, we would go with the RDX with the SH-AWD and the Advance package due to its lengthier list of features, mainly the upgraded sound system, and a surround-view camera. It provides the most technology and features for the money. The A-Spec package is tempting, due to its red interior, but it’s just cosmetic and not really worth the price.
