There are two 2023 Kia Telluride off-roading terms to consider. You can opt for the Kia Telluride X-Line or the Kia Telluride X-Pro for a little extra capability. While the Telluride won’t keep up with a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, it can handle moderate off-roading trails. 

The Telluride X-Line and X-Pro packages can be added to the EX, SX, and SX Prestige trims. These are the three higher-level models. They slot above the S and LX models, but you can add all-wheel drive to each model. 

With the X-Line, you get standard AWD, a suspension lift that increases the ground clearance from 8.0 to 8.4 inches, higher roof rails, a unique grille design, 20-inch wheels wrapped in all-season tires, and an enhanced traction control system. 

The X-Pro builds upon this package with 18-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, increases the towing capacity from 5,000 to 5,500 lbs, a 110-volt household-style outlet in the cargo area, a full-size spare tire, and off-road suspension tuning. 

People looking to push the Telluride a bit further should opt for the X-Pro package. However, both options provide more control and stability in slippery conditions. 

Is the Telluride good for off-roading? 

Yes, the 2023 Kia Telluride is a stout off-roading SUV option. It could use a little more ground clearance and off-roading modes, but it’s stable, confident, and has plenty of power for adventuring down the beaten track. 

The Telluride features AWD lock for more control at lower speeds. It helps prevent slipping and sliding in areas with slick mud and snow. You can go ahead and press the lock button to mack sure the Telluride doesn’t start in 2WD until a slip is detected. 

Plus, there are driving modes for Eco, Sport, Comfort, and Snow. According to Torque News, the Snow mode automatically manages your transmission, throttle, and wheelspin to provide optimal traction. 

Also, the 3.8-liter V6 engine cranks out 291 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. This is plenty of power for crawling over middling inclines and obstacles. It should be able to handle a little mud and ruts too. 

Are the 2023 Telluride off-roading trims comfortable for families? 

Yes, the 2023 Kia Telluride off-roading trims are designed to add capability without taking from the SUV’s comfortable reputation for families. The X-Pro and X-Line packages still provide a smooth ride and quiet interior. 

The EX trim adds leather upholstery, ventilated seats, rear sunshades, sound-absorbing front-door glass, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. With the SX trim, the 360-degree surround-view camera adds more visibility for clearing obstacles. 

But you can be even more comfortable with the SX Prestige trim because it has heated and ventilated seats in the second row! It also features a heated steering wheel and premium leather upholstery. 

The 2023 Kia Telluride delivers on enhancing its capability while keeping the entire family happy. While the X-Pro package has a little more grit, the X-Line is still a great deal.
